Soooo Sad - ABC Cancels Ugly Betty!

I am saddened by the news that ABC has put an end to Ugly Betty (full story here). After moving the show around (a lot) this year the network decided to ax the series. I am fully aware that last season was not the best but this year has been hilarious and so fun as the show got back into the groove. The show will have the opportunity to tie up all the loose ends and really give us closure. Does this mean romance for Betty and Daniel? Only time will tell (although not a lot since it is ending people). Any thoughts, comments? Does anyone else watch the show?

Would You Take Him Back???

The newest reports are saying that Elin Nordegren wants to work on her marriage to Tiger Woods. She does not want her children to grow up in a split family. Apparently she has even visited Tiger in sex rehab (I still don't get this). My question is; with all we know (and she knows) would you give him a second (or 3rd or 4th or 5th and so on) chance? Women coming out of the woodwork, confirmed reports of him spending thousands to cover this up, lying to your face, do you let him come home?

Not me. But then I am not married to Tiger Woods. I love my husband (a lot) but there is no way that I could forgive after being so publicly humiliated. I know, I know do it for the children but what about me and my happiness (and peace of mind). I guess this does not make me a very forgiving person but I know what I can and can't handle.

What about you, could you forgive?

No Politics With My Football Please...

On the radio this morning the hosts were discussing a Super Bowl ad that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was involved in. I paid very little attention to the discussion because I live in Florida and all the morning shows ever talk about is how great Tim Tebow is (was now that he has graduated). After perusing People.com (article here) this afternoon I now understand what all of the hoopla is about. It seems as if Mr. Tebow has participated in an ad that is decidedly pro-life (or pro-family as they like to call it). Now I am of the mindset that everyone is entitled to an opinion. I may even agree (or disagree) with said opinion. But (and this is a large but) I do not want it to air during the biggest football game of the year. Football (or any sport) should not be political and advertising for an opinion is not how I gear down and watch a game. I am an extremely conservative person. Two issues make me less conservative than my family thinks I should be. These two issues are gay rights and being pro-choice. However, neither of these opinions should be touted during a football game.

How Great is This???

So a rumor is almost confirmed (read almost) and I am very excited. What could make Glee better for me? Not many things (or people) could except...wait for it...yep you guessed it. Neil Patrick Harris is very close to a deal to guest star on the show. And (I know there is more) not only will he be guesting but Joss Whedon (of Buffy fame) will be directing. I am so excited I almost feel as if I may have won something at the Golden Globes. Read Ausiello on EW.com (here) for the full story.

The Golden Globes.....

I watched the entire show last night. Here are my thoughts in no particular order.

  • Hangover for best comedy? I loved this movie, don't get me wrong, but I assumed that pictures like this never win awards. Funny movie, yes! Worthy of an award? Not sure.
  • Glee wins! I would have been happy with Glee or Modern Family (because I love both). Just happy that something I watch won.
  • Does James Cameron get on anyone elses nerves? He went on and on about how great he is. Shut up!
  • I normally find Ricky Gervais extremely funny. Last night I was not impressed. Made me yearn for NPH.
  • Speaking of NPH; will he ever win anything? I so love him.
  • Worst dressed...I hate to say this because I love her and was so happy that she won but Sandra Bullock. I hated this dress. It looked like a prom dress from David's bridal for $99.

  • My best dressed was probably Sofia Vergara from Modern Family. Lots of people looked great but her dress was so different yet stylish and it was her fist time at an awards show. Very impressive.

  • Loved Robert Downey Jr's speech. Ditto with Jeff Bridges, Mo'nique and the cast of Glee.
  • Drew Barrymore seemed out of it (or just surprised). Also are she and Justin Long officially back together or still "just friends". She told him she loved him before she walked on stage. Just wondering?
These are my major observations on the show. I will watch the Fashion Police tonight on E and find out if my picks were good or bad. Anything I missed?

Golden Globes Tonight!!!

My ritual every year for Award Shows is as follows:

Pre-show (usually switching between E and NBC looking at dresses trying to see the stars)
Order Chinese before the show actually begins
Put PJ's on and get comfortable on the couch
Eat Chinese and yell at the television when the pre-show hosts ask dumb questions (Joan Rivers)
The show begins, eat dessert and yell at the television when my shows never win.
Try to stay up for the whole show but eventually record the final awards and go to bed.

and repeat for every award show. More updates later..

100 Epsodes of HIMYM

The 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother was on last night with a flourish. The cast sang in suits. Although the episode was fun (and I adore NPH singing) I was a little disappointed (as I have been all season) with the entire half hour. In honor of the 100th episode of a normally awesome show EW.com too the time to speak to the cast about their favorite HIMYM moments. I thought about it and decided to come up with some of my own. Here they are in no particular order.

  • The Naked Man episode. When Robin has sex with a loser date only because he is naked in her living room, Barney and Ted decide to try out the new method. The episode is made in the few minutes that it takes the two to decide which "pose" will work the best. I laugh just thinking about it.
  • The 3 day rule. The beginning of this episode still has me laughing when Barney explains to Ted why he should wait 3 days to call a girl. The comparison to Jesus' resurrection is priceless and if this is not enough the texting between Ted and the girl (Barney and Marshall) leads all of us to believe that Ted is really a girl.
  • I do concur with the cast on the New Years Eve episode when Ted rents a limo. Barney's mix CD that continues to go up and the search for the perfect party is a great tribute to a night that is always a letdown.
  • The episode with the humiliating stories is another gem. This is a look back to when Barney was a long haired hippie who wants to join the Peace Corps. Barney uses the story to get everyone to humiliate themselves with their own embarrassing stories. Ted's re-return to Robin's is classic.
I am sure that I am missing a lot. These are the ones that came to mind first. Sadly the 100th episode will not make the list but this does not mean that I don't have plenty to choose from. What are your favorites?

Ugly Betty Tonight

Ugly Betty has moved to Wednesday nights (yeah no more Fridays) on ABC. There are still many rumors swirling about the show and its future. One of the newest rumors is that this will be the final season and Betty and Daniel will end up together. I am not sure how I feel about this. I always felt that Betty and Daniel seemed more like brother and sister to me rather than romantic interests. As always with television, only time will tell. Watch tonight anyway...

We are getting old....

I saw this on TMZ earlier and thought it was funny. Billy Zabka played the bully in the Karate Kid back in the day. Now as much as I hated him I still thought he was cute.

Here he is now.

God we are old!

I never knew....

I have heard of this wonderful television station called LOGO (from my friend David Dust) but have never checked it out. And then something happened in my boredom on New Years Day between football games (I know football and LOGO in the same paragraph). I found a Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon on this grand network. As I watched, the commercials promised Buffy reruns every evening. Happy New Year to me! My beloved show is back on the air for me to Tivo and watch when nothing else is on. I hear tell that there are even some of the episodes on LOGO on demand. What a wonderful network. I am even thinking about watching Rupaul's Drag Race.

The Bachelor Premieres Tonight

I can't watch. I just can't. I thought I would be able to but with Jake (a former Bachelorette castoff) as the new bachelor; I don't think I can handle all of his trite cliches. There is no doubt that he is good-looking but I am not sure that he has the charisma to pull this show off (or not the show has gotten pretty old). So anyway, here is a picture of the new bachelor and the show premieres tonight on ABC. Let me know what you think.

I woke up this morning...

and this is what I decided to wear.

I mean why not? I could pull it off right? OK really who makes this shit? Sorry J Lo but as a mother of two a little decorum is necessary. Do you want your little girl dressing like this?

My Entertainment Wish List for 2010

I have made my New Year's resolutions (and probably have already broken most of them). Now I want to write down a few things that I wish for in 2010 in the world of entertainment. Just because I have not been writing about this stuff lately does not mean that I am not paying attention. I wish for:

1. A nice man for Jennifer Aniston - she seems nice and she is beautiful. Why can't she find someone?

2. An Emmy for Friday Night Lights - every week I watch this show and lament about how great it actually is, maybe someone else will notice.

3. The early demise of Spencer and Heidi (not death just go away) - I have a real problem with people who are famous for just being famous.

4. More covers of magazines with famous people that actually are good and moral. I know, I know boring but after awhile the Tigers and Charlie Sheens have got to be shown up by someone decent.

5. Please, please no NFL strike! Please! ( I know that this is not Hollywood but it falls under my entertainment realm).

6. Movies to win Oscars that are fun to watch for the masses yet still send a message. Go Up!

7. More happy stories on the Network News; thank you Brian Williams.

8. The return of a Project Runway that is not boring and hard to watch because you have no one to pull for.

9. Glee to catch on and everyone starts singing just for the hell of it. OK I am kidding but when the show returns I hope that the wonderful stories maintain their momentum and the show does not become ho-hum.

10. Finally, I wish for less divorce, less ridiculously young deaths and more happiness (and rainbows everywhere).

Happy New Year Hollywood!

What will the year bring.....

Happy 2010 everyone! After spending a quite evening at home with my husband and children I woke up this morning with a rested head and a new zest for the year to come. As always, I have made a list of things that I would like to accomplish this year. Drumroll please......and here they are (in no particular order):

1. Lose 10 pounds (I do this one every year but this is the year of my 20 year high school reunion so it must happen)

2. Run a race and finish it (this one is scheduled, I am running a 5k on February 20th and you will hear plenty about it I am sure).

3. Try to remember how good I actually have it and not sweat the small stuff (I need to be better about letting things roll off my back).

4. Visit my family more...

5. Organize my house, my computer, my pictures and my life.

6. Be more consistent with my writing (see above)

7. Work on my patience with the children (and my husband and my friends and my family,,,)

OK that is a start. Does anyone else have a list yet? Am I reaching here? I am watching football today and eating football food and then the diet and healthy lifestyle will begin. Happy, happy day everyone! May this be the start of a fabulous year.
