SYTYCD - I am a little relieved

I know that this is mean but I am so glad that Jess is gone on SYTYCD.  I was so fearful that he was going to be in the final 4 and the judges loved him but I was tired of his mug-like expressions.  Jordan, I am sad about, but Jess I could do without.  As for Lady Gaga as a guest judge; I did not get it.  I had trouble understanding her and when she did speak I felt like she was high and not completely with it.  On another note, at the end of the results show did Tadd and Jess kiss?  I thought that Tadd was straight, maybe I was just seeing things.  Anyone?  I deleted the episode so I cannot re-watch.

I'm Back.....

Got back yesterday from my month long trek to North Carolina.  I am watching my shows and trying to play catch up.  I am also reading the blogs of my peeps and making sure everyone is doing OK.  Cannot wait to catch up and I hope that everyone is staying cool.

Bittersweet Emmy Nominations...

Tomorrow night marks the end of the best show on television, Friday Night Lights (wow many of my favorite things are ending today).  The Emmy nominations came out this morning and finally Friday Night Lights was shown a little love (where was this love at the end of Season 3?).  Congratulations to Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and the show itself for the nominations.  Now maybe as the show ends the Emmy voters will realize what they have missed for the past 5 seasons.

On another note, I will be crying tomorrow night and I am so sad that the show is over.  I respect great talent and this show is a true showcase of that.  Goodbye Lions and Panthers!  Thank you for 5 wonderful (and award worthy) seasons!

So You Think You Can Dance - Top 10 will be who?

Last night on SYTYCD the top 12 danced for the last time with their respective partners.  Today I am having a few issues with what I saw last night and what I am reading on the recaps.

OK, first of all Jesse Tyler Ferguson was the shit.  He was funny, educated and so obviously a fan of the show.  I loved his comments and his ability to laugh at himself (which always seemed to take the edge off of negative critique). Oh and Sonya sucked.  She can choreograph but don't make her talk in front of people please.

My issue with the show this season is that there are people that are going to be in the Top 10 that I just do not like.  Jess drives me crazy.  I hate his facial expressions and his cheesiness so much when he is dancing.  Now I know that he has a major fan base (apparently) but it blows my mind that he has never danced for his life.  Also, Sasha and Alexander are probably my least favorite couple up there.  She is fine I guess (I don't get the judges obsession with her) but he just does not play the manly part very well.  I am fully aware that many dancers are gay but when dancing (especially partnering) the man has to be the man and Alexander never seems to fulfill that role.  And Ryan, again another judges favorite, but I don't get it.  I was pleased when she did not make it last year and disappointed this year when she did.  She just never seems to hold my attention and I feel as if she is a little cocky (this could be the Mia Michaels thing and only in my head).  I just don't like her.

So what will happen tonight?  Who will go home and who will have a spot in the Top 10 that I do not think is deserved?   We will see.....

July 15th is almost here....

About 10 years ago I had a baby boy.  I also began my obsession with a wand carrying boy named Harry.  As most of you know, I have read all of the books (multiple times) and seen all of the movies.  My boy is going into the 4th grade and has finished all of the Harry Potter books.  The rule was that he could not watch one of the movies until he had read the subsequent book.  So tomorrow, for the first time, he gets to go with me to a Harry Potter film on the big screen.  I find it oddly touching that the year he was born was the start of the movie franchise.  I got my tickets yesterday and we are going at 9:45 in the morning (weird time for a movie but I want to see it before anyone can talk to me about it).  I am excited but also sad to know that this chapter is ending for us all.  I will let you know what I think (and what my boy thinks).Ahhh one last time to be a muggle...

Old friends...

I am in North Carolina for the month and just spent a few days in the mountains hanging with one of my besties.  It so makes you realize that old friends can not be duplicated or replaced.

How do you respond?

As most of you know I have 2 children.  They are 7 and 10 (almost) now and I can no longer shield them from the goings on of the world.  As we were driving yesterday from Florida to NC I listened to the verdict of the Casey Anthony trial on the radio.  As I was informed of the idiotic result, I may have uttered an inappropriate word that my child heard (I said, "Are you fucking kidding me").  My 10 year old asked why I was so mad and I responded that I felt that this mother had hurt her child and was not going to be punished.  This stumped both kids for a minute and then the questions began.

I know, I know, I opened myself up to this one but how in the world do you explain that even though everyone in the world thinks this woman is guilty (and crazy) she is going to walk away?  What does this say about our justice system and what does this say about the prosecution in this case?  I navigated the questions as best I could and dropped the subject quickly but (and this is a big but) I know that both of my kids will be thinking about this for awhile (as will most of us).

I am disappointed that I even had to have the conversation and am scared of what this woman will do once she is released.  Pregnant again in 6 months (bet you $20), and she will hurt someone again.  Not feeling real proud and protected at the moment.

Happy Summer!

I am off on my annual trek to North Carolina.  I will be gone for a month but will try to blog as much as possible.  As always I will try to keep up with everyone while I am gone.  Now for my picture of Bojangles to let you know that once I hit South Carolina this is what I will be eating...

Love to you all and Happy July!
