The ways of the world....

Here in Palm Beach County most of us (and by us I mean my husband and neighbors) have been following the trial of the Polo tycoon, John Goodman.  Refresher...this is the guy that slammed his Bentley into another car carrying a young man who ultimately drowned because his car went into a canal upside down and the stupid ass (Goodman) waited over an hour to call 911.  The man was drunk and could not be bothered to call the police.  Plus to make this guy (Goodman) even more likable he has adopted his 42 year old girlfriend so he can hide some of his money (yep there is class all over the place down here).  Anyway, the verdict came down yesterday and Goodman was found guilty.  He will be sentenced on April 30th and the maximum that he could serve is 30 years.  Now this trial will be appealed and my fear is that this man will be able to buy his way out of something.  He left this kid to die and did nothing.  He waited an hour to call 911.  How does one live with themselves after this happens?  Money apparently does not buy common decency or any kind of moral code.  I hope this man is in prison for a very long time.

Once Upon A Time - So Great!!!

I have always said that I admire true talent.  I have no talent (not in the artistic sense) and I enjoy watching and admiring people who do.  So after finally catching up on my back episodes of Once Upon a Time I must give a shout out to the writers of this amazing show.  The back stories that have been created in the past few weeks for the Story Brook characters take a wonderful imagination and have been handled so well.  Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast especially.

I am not sure where the murder storyline is taking me but I am along for the ride for sure.  Really, really enjoy this hour of television and again kudos to the writers and creators.  Yes the actors are good but the ideas and stories are true artistry!

*UPDATE Once Upon a Time cocreator Adam Horowitz revealed on Twitter that the title of the season finale, airing May 13, “A Land Without Magic.” What does this mean??????

First Day Of Spring Break...

One of the greatest things about being a teacher is that you get to experience Spring Break just like your kids.  Last week I was counting down the days until Spring Break and it is finally here.  We are staying in town and today we hit the beach.

Now what will we do tomorrow....

March Madness is upon me....

I love sports.  Ya'll know that I love football but lets remember that I am from North Carolina so basketball was drilled into me at a very young age.  After watching my Wolfpack (NC State) lose a close one to the hated Carolina last weekend in the ACC tournament we had very little hope for a NCAA bid.  But.....and this is a big but (like Jennifer Lopez size) after watching and waiting as the stupid selection committee called every school but my own, the field was down to the final selection.   Yep you guessed the Wolfpack made it.  Now that should have been good enough for those of us that had very low expectations this year but nope we wanted more great things and we got them.  After a close game today against Georgetown (yes that Georgetown), the North Carolina State Wolfpack is heading to the Sweet 16!  For those of you that are not big sports fans, this is a big deal.  I am very excited and am loving the start of my Spring Break....

I am not that young anymore...

We arrived home last night from a 4 day weekend with our college friends.  This is a trip we do every year (for 16 years so far) and no kids are ever invited.  Let me just tell you that no matter how hard I try to stay cool and maintain my college cred (which means drinking from noon until) I do not recover as quickly as I did back in the day.  In fact I may need a new liver, new lungs and definitely a new waistline.  So, with that said, I am easing back in very, very slowly.  Oh but Savannah and Tybee Island were just beautiful....

Have a good weekend...

Heading north to Savannah today for a weekend away from the kiddos.  I am going to be drinking, shopping, hanging with old friends and watching basketball (Go Wolfpack in the ACC tournament) oh and eating fried foods.  Have a wonderful weekend and I will check back in on Monday.

Top Chef Reunion...

Just watched Top Chef Reunion and I have a few comments....

  • Heather is a bitch.  She actually said that she did not mean to "throw Bev under the bus" and that she would not apologize for her work ethic comment.
  • Bev came out on top in the war of the words.  She held her ground and was very classy in what she had to say.  Gail even made a comment about her class, way to go Bev...
  • Sara told a judge to f##K off.  Think it was Emeril and Sara was mad that it was brought up at the reunion.  Hello, reality television people.
  • Are Malibu Chris and Grayson dating?  That was a question.  I don't see it.
  • Loved Ty-lor's naked butt picture just because it was funny and he just played it off so well.
  • I really enjoyed the outtakes.  Laughed a lot..
  • I am still so glad that Paul won.  He deserved it and I could not have imagined it being anyone else.
So what happens next (had to do it)....

Maybe I am a Cougar....

In the next few weeks many new movies will begin.  Here is the latest in the new crop of hotties that are starring in said movies.  And yes I am old enough to be most of their mothers but I ain't scared to look...

John Carter premieres on March 9th starring Taylor Kitsch.  He will always be Riggins to me (Friday Nights Lights holla) but he is getting better with age and he started off pretty good.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you must know that The Hunger Games opens in theaters on March 23rd.  The movie stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson (and Jennifer Lawrence as well) and both of these boys are looking good.  Oh and don't forget, a sexy beast of our own age is also in this "little" movie; namely Lenny Kravitz...

Finally, the former Disney Darling and High School Musical singing basketball player has grown up and filled out.  Zac Efron will be opening the Nicholas Sparks tearjerker, The Lucky One on April 20 and yep, I checked out the guns...

Just a little something to get you through the week...

Amazing Race + Rachel = Painful

I love the Amazing Race.  I mean I really love the Amazing Race.  But this season with the inclusion of Rachel and Brendon (of Big Brother fame) it is almost too painful to watch.  I normally do not wish for someone to lose on the Amazing Race (OK maybe I do but this time I really mean it) but these two must go.  This girl (Rachel) is the most annoying, immature, whiny, fame loving whore (whew I needed to get that off my chest).  I am not sure what Brendon, the PhD candidate, sees in her.  Yep she has big boobs but there is nothing else.  I am hoping she goes home soon.  I have to fast forward through her parts.  Her voice just grates and grates and grates and so on....

From Dreamy to Grumpy...

Last night on Once Upon a Time we learned the origination of the Dwarf, Grumpy and how he went from Dreamy to Grumpy.  Also, Charming's (David) wife is missing and everyone in town thinks Snow (I mean Mary Margaret) is the town harlot.  To be honest it is difficult for my brain to go back and forth between Fairyland and the real world but I adore this show.

In brief, for those of you that did not know, dwarfs are hatched from eggs and immediately put to work in the mines.  In the mines the dwarfs mine diamonds for fairy dust.  As dreamy was born, he was placed in his pack of 7 friends (aha) and off they went whistling a little tune to work in the mines.  All would have been well had Dreamy not met Nova (the Fairy) and fallen in love.  But alas Nova and Dreamy could not be together and inevitably this is what turned our Dreamy into the better known Grouchy.

In the real world, Dreamy/Grouchy (aka Leroy) is the town drunk who is in love with Astrid, a nun.  Now that would be a match not made in heaven.  Leroy helps Astrid and they have a few nice moments but obviously their love is forbidden.

Meanwhile Kathryn, David's wife, has disappeared after her car went off the side of the road.  No one knows where she is and the phone records (provided by the evil queen) show that the last call that Kathryn made was to her husband.  So David (aka Charming) is arrested and heading downtown (actually not sure that Storybrook has a downtown but it sounded good) to defend himself against the indisputable (phone records) against him.

Next week, the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.  And yes people this is the one I have been looking forward to for some reason.  Did I miss anything important?  I really love this show but it is so hard to explain it to people and explain why I like it so much...
