Gossip Girl - What is wrong with me?

I watched last night's Gossip Girl with hoping that (1) there would be less about Dan and Vanessa, (2) the Jenny storyline would be placed on the back burner and (3) the actress playing Chuck's mother would become a better actress. Sadly not one of my list was fulfilled. Here is my heartfelt plea to the Gossip Girl writers in hopes that we can move on to bigger and better things.

  • Get Jenny back in school. The scenes with Eric (where is he?) and Jenny fighting for the queendom were fun and age appropriate. I am tired of Jenny the rebel, Jenny the runaway and Jenny the drug-dealer. She is still in high school.
  • Dan and Vanessa are boring and stupid together. Plus what is up with Dan's hair? I just think that we have been led to believe for so long that the two are friends and now with them sleeping together it just seems a little incestuous and weird.
  • Speaking of incestuous; does it bother anyone else when Serena is giving Vanessa advice on keeping things "hot" and "new" with Dan. The two girls are going back and forth about their men when each has slept with the other. Its too much!
  • I am extremely disappointed in the casting for Chuck's mom. Chuck deserved a dynamic diva for a mother and we got a passive weakling whose voice will drive you crazy if you listen very long. I say good riddance to her and hope that she does not return.
  • As for the Jack storyline, I do feel that this is moving in the right direction and look forward to Chuck Bass coming back as his usual vindictive, bad ass self.
Come on Gossip Girl do not let me down now. As one of my few guilty pleasures I would like to watch an episode without fast forwarding more than I actually view.

I am not sure how I feel about this yet...

I love all things Gossip Girl (you know this). But I especially love Chuck Bass. His sarcastic charm and womanizing ways make him one of my favorite characters on television. Apparently in the upcoming season Chuck Bass will participate in a little man-on-man action. According to the books (of which I have never read) Chuck Bass swings both ways sexually. I don't have a problem with this per se; I love a good gay character. In this situation the problem that I have is that the television show has really promoted Chuck as the slutty guy. Yes he dresses well (OK he has his own style) but he sleeps around, picks up random women and in general acts like a shit. They even used Britany's song (Womanizer) to promote him. And now to do a 180 (or 360) on his character seems a little severe. Plus there is already a gay character on the show who has no screen time. I guess I will have to wait and see how the actual scene plays out before I complain. I just do not want a situation where the writers assume that once you run out of storylines for a character "lets just make him gay" will work to keep the stories fresh. Read the whole story on EW.com (here). What do you think? Happy? Excited? Frustrated? or just wait and see?

I love Chuck Bass

These were posted earlier on PerezHilton.com. Looks like Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl is in the new GQ. Once again (as always) I love Chuck Bass...a lot!

Gossip Girl - The Family That Stays Together

Last night as many of our favorite characters had epiphanies, Nate and Vanessa still found time to do nothing, kiss a lot, and add nothing to the overall content of the show. Very impressive use of two actors, I must say.

I digress. Lets start with Serena's epiphany. Serena has decided that Yale is not for her and she has wants to pursue her original choice of college, Brown. Without telling Dan, Serena refused her acceptance to Yale and in doing so pretty much destroyed her relationship with Dan (again). Although walking in on your parents doing the "walk of shame" seemed to be taking care of ending their relationship already, Serena just sped things up a little. But no worries; there is a hot, young, seemingly intelligent (and not rich) teacher available for Dan to turn on the charm for.

Speaking of said teacher, she has now started a war with Queen Blair by simply giving her a B. When Blair retaliates, the teacher goes to the headmistress Blair and is placed on a wait list for Yale. The war is on!

I saved the best for last. Chuck tries to go head to head with Uncle Jack and comes up short. He finally asks Lily for help and after realizing what is needed Lily adopts Chuck and becomes his legal guardian. Thus meaning that Chuck can have his conglomerate back. Jack is not happy and tries to force himself on Lily until Chuck barges in and saves Lily. Maybe Chuck Bass loves after all.

Scenes for next week look all too familiar. Are we already in rerun territory? I need to do some checking. XOXO

Gossip Girl - Bring Back Chuck

I have said this before and I will say it again; please bring back the old Chuck Bass. I know that he is going through a lot and he needs to mourn the death of his father but I miss the cocky, self assured asshole that epitomizes Chuck Bass. Last night we followed Chuck as he hit rock bottom only to be "saved" at the end of the episode by his love for Blair. Little does Chuck know that Blair and his Uncle Jack (Jack Bass just arrived last night) have a secret from New Years Eve that neither mentioned until the last 10 seconds of the show. How is that for keeping us hanging?

The Humphrey's and the van der Woodsen's are no different. We find out the the "love child" of Rufus and Lily is a boy (thank God it was not Georgina) and that Rufus must find him (?). So the two steal off in the middle of the night to track down this child leaving Dan with a secret that he cannot tell Serena (Dan figured out the secret with some help from Chuck). Plus Dan and Serena are back together; so what will this shared sibling mean for their relationship? My goodness it is getting good.

No sign of Nate or Vanessa last night (yawn) but Little J tried to overturn the hierarchy of bitchiness. It worked but when the girls realized that Jenny did not want back in the group they went back to their own little insignificant place on the show.

Next week it looks as if Chuck receives his inheritance and finds out about Uncle Jack's (and Blair) little secret (whatever it may be). Back with a vengeance is all I have to say. XOXO.

Gossip Girl - Will They or Won't They?

Gossip Girl last night was little tired to say the least. Still love the show and it is still the only show I watch in real time buuuut the whole Chuck and Blair thing (will they have sex, do they love each other etc) is getting a little old. Either do it or get back to hating each other. As I have already stated; I want Chuck Bass to be Chuck Bass and he cannot be that person (or slime) if he is mooning over Blair. Thank goodness the writers realized this (for now) and allowed Chuck and Blair to walk away.

In other news little Jenny's storyline is just not interesting to me. Who else guessed that Eleanor would steal her designs (pick me) or that after Nate moved in that they would hook up (again pick me). Of course Nate "saved" Jenny from going to far with a model and photographer but still boring in my opinion. I just want the show back to its core group and Jenny was only a part of that inasmuch as she was the gum on the bottom of Blair's shoe.

As for Serena and Dan (yawn); Serena has met an artist and is interested but he left last night with another woman. How does Dan feel about it? Well in his eternally good guy manner he has "given his blessing" (yawn again fight for the girl you love dumbass).

So to break it down; last night's episode sucked but Gossip Girl is still one of the better shows on television right now and the only show that has the distinction of keeping me interested from start to finish (in real time). As for next week, more of the Little J storyline but Dan beats up Nate. Now I love fights! XOXO.

Dangerous Liaisons/Cruel Intentions/Gossip Girl

Never underestimate the power of the innocent. We have seen the story before; bad girl dares bad boy to deflower the "virgin" (or in this case the socially enlightened one) and then humiliate her for the hell of it. Bad boy then seems to fall for said virgin and bad girl gets mad and retaliates. When the bad boy is Chuck Bass anything is possible.

Blair decides that Vanessa needs to be taken down a notch or two (Dear Vanessa, never try to blackmail the Queen) and calls in the big guns (or Chuck Bass). Chuck falls in love with the building Vanessa is trying to save (and likes who he is with Vanessa) and Blair gets pissed. Blair then exposes Chuck for the fraud that he is and Vanessa storms out. Somehow Chuck wins the bet (or Blair is just horny) and arrives to collect his "prize". But wait, Chuck walks away from Blair in bed. Does this mean that he no longer wants the Queen B or is he just getting her back for making him wait? Only time will tell.

On the Humphrey front; Dan discovers that Nate is living in his seized house (you would think that if the Captain cared he would come back) in a sleeping bag. Nate moves in with the Humphrey family? As for Serena, well it was a tame week. She makes a scene in front of the reporters at Bart and Lily's party. Oh and little Eric has a boyfriend.

See you next week...and when will we get a glimpse of that body bag? XOXO

Gossip Girl - College Visits

I love Chuck Bass. I love Chuck Bass in a way that all women love something that is bad for them (junk food, wine, an occasional cigarette). Chuck has a way of being a complete asshole but yet he still (for some reason) makes you want to be in his presence. Last night was no exception.

The gang (Chuck, Nate, Dan, Serena and Blair) headed to Yale to begin the interview process for colleges. Serena was headed to Brown until Blair put her in her place and Serena could not let a dare go unchallenged. So off to Yale they went with Blair and Serena competing (again) for a spot in the freshman class, Dan trying to get into the English Department and Nate and Chuck set to experience more of the social scene.

Nate met a girl but lied about his name (using Dan Humphrey as his alias) due to the stellar reputation that his father has on campus. Dan tried to get a recommendation from someone in the English department but was mistaken for Nate (?) and tied to a bell tower. Check was absconded by a secret society and sent them to attack Dan (telling the guys that he was Nate) because Chuck is still smarting from Dan using him for a story. And Serena and Blair in their usual nice but bitchy manner were both trying to get in good with the Dean of Students.

The girl fight between Serena and Blair was hilarious and when they both decided to stay out of the other's way, we all knew that it would not last. They were nicey, nicey the next day but I am hoping this won't last either. The two are fun when they are at each other's throats. As for Chuck and his secret society; of course Chuck Bass used skanky women to get all the boys on camera doing "God knows what", so he has these "pillars of the school" in his back pocket and at his disposal now.

The only surprising thing was that Nate and Dan left campus together; Nate was upset with Chuck for sicking the society boys on Dan and decided that he would rather spend time with Dan than Chuck. Poor Chuck looked sad and friendless. How will this one play out? Till next week. XOXO.

Gossip Girl in the Dark

Amidst the hype that was last nights episode a couple of interesting things happened.

Chuck Bass admitted (freely) that he cannot get it up for anyone but Blaire at the moment. As Serena compared her best friend to Drano (and told Chuck he could not clean himself out with Blaire) we all knew that it was downhill from there. Chuck attempted to use the blackout to his advantage and even used his "fake" English accent to make Blaire believe he was really the Lord but the lights came on and Chuck was left royally f***ed (not literally).

Dan and Serena ended up in an elevator and had to finally discuss their issues. The issues being that neither one can compromise enough to fit into the others world. So the elevator doors opened and the relationship is now over although they both still love the other (?). As we all know this is far from over but we will watch the parade of useless guest stars that Dan and Serena have to date before realizing that they are in fact perfect for each other.

Finally, Nate has become a gigolo (Dan's word not mine) and after coming clean to Vanessa, Nate sees a light at the end of the tunnel. But no, like every other man (on television anyway) Nate cannot keep his mouth shut in bed and tells the Duchess the one secret that cannot get out; where his father is hiding. The Duchess uses this information to get rid of Vanessa and to keep Nate as her own little boy toy.

Next week the kids (?) are going back to school. You know you love me. XOXO

Gossip Girl in The Hamptons

Gossip Girl is back and I would like to say with a vengeance but alas I am unable to. Last night in the Hampton's the season premiere was a bit lackluster (kind of like a beach vacation) but some fun things did happen and left the door open for a new start in the city.

I knew that the writers could not keep Dan and Serena apart for long and they were back together in less than an hour. Who knows what this year will bring now that we all know Serena's big "secret".

This is the part that really got to me; trying to get Chuck Bass to utter the words "I love you" is against all laws of nature and should ever be attempted again. Chuck apparently was miffed that Blaire got over him so quickly (she didn't really) and then he realized that he actually does care about her (OMG shock!). Here is my appeal to the writers; let Chuck Bass be Chuck Bass. Let him lie, cheat, fornicate and act like a pompous ass because this is why we love him. No more of this wussy boy "I love you" crap.

Now Blaire has moved on to a man with a title (a Lord I think). Nate is having an illicit affair with a married woman and little Jenny has made nice with Eric and is just trying to get her designs (?) out there. Was this all enough to hook me for a second season? Yes but (you knew there was a but) don't f*** with the formula that brought me here. Keep the drama coming. Later taters (and XOXO you know you love me; had to do it).

Gossip Girl Tonight!!!!!!

Finally the new television season is here and it starts with Gossip Girl tonight! we left last season with Dan and Serena broken and Blair and Chuck getting ready to connive and cheat on each other. Nate and Serena were heading to the Hamptons and Dan was staying in Brooklyn with Vanessa. So what will tonight bring? 8:00 on the CW and I cannot wait
