Gossip Girl - The Wedding?

On this, the day of the 100th episode of Gossip Girl, it was supposed to be about a wedding.  Blair and Louis, to be exact.  So the question is, did it actually happen?  Did Blair go through with it?  Did Chuck protest?  Did Dan confess his love?  And oh wait, Georgina showed up too.  And let the craziness begin.

The episode began with Serena dreaming about singing "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend".  Dumb really.  A filler no doubt but whatevs, lets get to the good stuff.

We all thought Chuck had joined forces with the evil preacher but the good Chuck reared his ugly head and gave the preacher a touch of Montazuma's revenge (water from the Bass resort in Mexico to be exact) so that Blair's wedding would come off without a hitch.  Enter Georgina.

As Blair starts to freak out and Serena's hair looks like she is housing a family of squirrels, we all realize that this wedding is not long for this world.  Eleanor shows up at Chuck's house to tell him to stop the wedding.  Now we really know this is not going to happen.  Oh wait, Rufus and Lilly to the rescue.  They catch Georgina trying to seduce Louis and try to have her thrown out.

And then Chuck arrives..."don't marry him" he says.  As Blair professes her love to Chuck she tries to keep her promise to God by telling Chuck that she cannot be with him.  And Georgina got it all on tape to send to Gossip Girl.  But wait Serena tells Chuck the truth about Blair's "pact" with God.  At this point I am sitting on the edge of my seat (OK not really but it helps the suspense).  But then a Gossip Girl blasts interrupts the wedding as Blair admits her love for Chuck.  Is this it?

So Georgina ruins the wedding but makes it worse by making everyone second guess who actually sent the blast in to Gossip Girl.  One must admit the girl is fun.  But wait, the wedding happens!  Blair is married to the Prince.  Chuck and Blair are over!

And just when you think everything is done...Serena confesses her love to Dan.  Huh? (that's what Dan said).  Oh and on another note, Charlie Rhodes (the real Charlie Rhodes) just happens to be working the wedding as a caterer and starts talking to Nate.  How big is New York by the way?  Oh and one more thing, Louis drops the bombshell.  He and Blair are married in name only.  It will all be fake and she just has to smile for the cameras.  Blair calls Chuck at the end (or so we think) but no its Dan and Blair leaves with Dan?

And Georgina is Gossip Girl?

One crazy episode.  I do not even know what to think.  Let me process.  Jammed packed hour though.  Loved it....

Gossip Girl - Been There Done That...

Yes I am still watching Gossip Girl (which airs tonight).  I had an epiphany last week and wanted to share it.  The Gossip Girl writers keep the show going because they just use old scripts over and over again.  As we once again regurgitate the ever depressing storyline of Chuck Bass having yet another breakdown, I wonder when and how the show will continue after this year.  I feel that at the end of every season, Chuck is on the verge of losing his shit and someone has to save him.  The only possible way this season could have been saved (Serena and the boring teacher, Nate who?, Vanessa the lurker) was the Dan and Blair storyline.  They were funny, interesting, bratty and new!  We will see what happens tonight but I am losing all interest in the show.  Someone save it please....

Gossip Girl on a break...

OK I just have to say this.  I have been loving Gossip Girl lately.  Not the stupid Serena and the ex-con storyline.  Not the "will Lilly go to jail storyline".  And certainly not the "Bass industries must be saved" storyline.  Nope I am talking about the Dan and Blair storyline that is happening.  I love it!  The two of them together (just as friends of course) has been hilarious, funny and a return to the comically bitchy Blair that we all know and love.  So imagine my disdain when I watched the episode Monday night and just as Dan and Blair were going in for the kiss, we find out that the show will not return until April 18th.  A month and a half to find out what happens?  Now is that really fair?

Rough Night on GG

Season Finale last night on Gossip Girl certainly has the blogosphere yapping this morning. I am not sure who had the rougher night;

Dan who discovered that he still had feelings for Serena as she blows him off to go to Paris. Vanessa will not speak to him and Georgina shows up pregnant announcing he is the father. Oh and there was the little incident with Chuck (Dan punching him in the lip) that came up as well.

But then there was Jenny who is hated by all for trying to break up Lily and Rufus. Nate will never like her as more than a friend and to top it off she is being sent back to suburbia because she cannot hack it in the big city. To add insult to injury she sleeps with Chuck Bass (her fist time) because she is lonely and he blows her off the minute Blair walks in the apartment. Reality does sometimes slap you in the face Little J.

But wait, what about Chuck Bass? He declares his love for Blair and asks her to meet him at the top of the Empire State building. She doesn't show so he settles for Jenny Humphrey. Dan punches him out when he finds out just as Chuck is getting ready to propose to Blair. Chuck leaves town and gets shot in Prague.

My goodness it was a drama filled episode. Rufus and Lily are back together, Dorota had her baby and Serena and Blair have headed off to Paris. Did I miss anything? I have to say that after a lackluster year this was a finale the way finales are meant to be done. What did you think?

Gossip Girl - What is wrong with me?

I watched last night's Gossip Girl with hoping that (1) there would be less about Dan and Vanessa, (2) the Jenny storyline would be placed on the back burner and (3) the actress playing Chuck's mother would become a better actress. Sadly not one of my list was fulfilled. Here is my heartfelt plea to the Gossip Girl writers in hopes that we can move on to bigger and better things.

  • Get Jenny back in school. The scenes with Eric (where is he?) and Jenny fighting for the queendom were fun and age appropriate. I am tired of Jenny the rebel, Jenny the runaway and Jenny the drug-dealer. She is still in high school.
  • Dan and Vanessa are boring and stupid together. Plus what is up with Dan's hair? I just think that we have been led to believe for so long that the two are friends and now with them sleeping together it just seems a little incestuous and weird.
  • Speaking of incestuous; does it bother anyone else when Serena is giving Vanessa advice on keeping things "hot" and "new" with Dan. The two girls are going back and forth about their men when each has slept with the other. Its too much!
  • I am extremely disappointed in the casting for Chuck's mom. Chuck deserved a dynamic diva for a mother and we got a passive weakling whose voice will drive you crazy if you listen very long. I say good riddance to her and hope that she does not return.
  • As for the Jack storyline, I do feel that this is moving in the right direction and look forward to Chuck Bass coming back as his usual vindictive, bad ass self.
Come on Gossip Girl do not let me down now. As one of my few guilty pleasures I would like to watch an episode without fast forwarding more than I actually view.

Gossip Girl...really?

Just watched Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl. A few things about this episode seemed dumb or implausible but I would only like to mention one. Dan and Georgina? Are you F**king kidding me? That is all I have to say.

Who Watched Last Night?

Last night was the season premiere of Gossip Girl and I want to hear your thoughts? As I turned on the television with bated breath....not that kind of thing. I want to hear the bitchiness. One of my friends today wanted to mention Vanessa's hair. WTF? Was it dreads or just dreadful? This is what I am talking about. Here are my top 5 (for good or bad) observations:

1. Chuck Bass looked good last night. Not sure why this would be different than any other season but I needed to mention it.

2. Blair and Chuck need conflict, and a lot of it. I cannot stand the nicey, nicey crap. Play the games! This is why we love you both.

3. Serena's weird obsession with her father's attention should have been dealt with in therapy many years ago. Not sure where this storyline is going.

4. The West Side Storyline of Nate and this Buckley girl could get old fast. She is cute but Nate needs someone with a little flavor to offset his bland character.

5. Speaking of hair...Dan looked like he had on a "Welcome Back Kotter" wig last night. Hairstyling help is needed on set, pronto!

These are my observations. If you want a full recap check out EW.com (here). What did you think? Was it worth the wait?

Is Anyone Else Excited About Gossip Girl?

Tonight is the night. Gossip Girl season premiere at 9:00 on the CW. I cannot wait. The gang is headed to college and who knows what is in store for everyone. What will happen to Nate and Blair, Serena and Dan, the bastard child of Rufus and Lily? God I can't wait. How sad is my life?

I am not sure how I feel about this yet...

I love all things Gossip Girl (you know this). But I especially love Chuck Bass. His sarcastic charm and womanizing ways make him one of my favorite characters on television. Apparently in the upcoming season Chuck Bass will participate in a little man-on-man action. According to the books (of which I have never read) Chuck Bass swings both ways sexually. I don't have a problem with this per se; I love a good gay character. In this situation the problem that I have is that the television show has really promoted Chuck as the slutty guy. Yes he dresses well (OK he has his own style) but he sleeps around, picks up random women and in general acts like a shit. They even used Britany's song (Womanizer) to promote him. And now to do a 180 (or 360) on his character seems a little severe. Plus there is already a gay character on the show who has no screen time. I guess I will have to wait and see how the actual scene plays out before I complain. I just do not want a situation where the writers assume that once you run out of storylines for a character "lets just make him gay" will work to keep the stories fresh. Read the whole story on EW.com (here). What do you think? Happy? Excited? Frustrated? or just wait and see?

Is Anyone Else Going to Watch NYC Prep?

Tonight on Bravo at 9 a new show premiers called NYC Prep. It is being touted as the real life Gossip Girl. I watched the preview special and got to know a few of the characters. I will check it out tonight (if I can get it past my husband) and let you know what I think. As a true fan of Gossip Girl I am not sure that this will fill the void but there is no harm in trying. And based on the preview special one of the guys does a mean hair flip.

Update on Gossip Girl

Just read Ausiello on EW.com (here). This is the latest on Georgina and how long she will be around in the fall.

Questions: I just finished watching the Gossip Girl finale, and it was awesome. My question for you is about Georgina: At the end of the episode she announced she was going to be Blair's roommate at NYU -- strongly implying that she would be a presence, if not a regular character, in season 3. But Michelle Trachtenberg is in NBC's new fall drama, Mercy. What does this mean about Georgina and Gossip Girl? --Cory
Ausiello:
It means producers thought ahead and made sure Trachtenberg negotiated a three-episode Gossip Girl "out" in her Mercy contract. You didn't really think the Georgina-Blair roommate thing would last longer than that, did you?

Thought this was interesting.

Gossip Girl - Here's How It Ended....

1. Georgina will officially be back next season and is looking to room with Blair at NYU (yes you heard me how hilarious will that be).

2. Rufus and Lily's son has arrived in New York to search for them and has already made contact with Dan (unknowingly I think).

3. Nate had another "Mrs. Robinson" moment and opted to backpack with Jessica for the summer. Not sure what this means or if I care.

4. Rufus and Lily are engaged and (I assume) moving in together in the Bass pad.

5. Little J is the new queen at Constance (again not sure if I care).

6. Serena met up with Carter (who) again and is now searching for her father this summer. I was unaware that he was missing but always a mystery.

7. Chuck finally (finally) told Blair that he loved her and they are going to live happily ever after (yeah right).

8. And......still no identity of Gossip Girl has been discovered. Shocker I know but she (or he) did play with everyone last night (very funny). All secrets were revealed but surprisingly no one really cared (for very long).

So that was it. We have to wait until the fall to find out how everyone fared over the summer. Oh and one more thing; the spinoff 80's flashback has been cancelled (can you be cancelled if you never started). So no young Lily to get to know. I must say I am a little bummed. No matter what I would have loved the music. XOXO

Gossip Girl - Graduation Tonight

I am embarrassingly excited about tonight's season finale of Gossip Girl. I have been waiting all year for Chuck and Blair to get together and tonight could be the night. As for the other drama expected (Georgina et al) that is just icing on the cake. Recap tomorrow. Is anyone else excited (or am I the only loser with no life outside television)?

Gossip Girl Spoiler (sort of)

Every Thursday I read Ask Ausiello (here) on EW.com. This is his latest on Monday's finale of Gossip Girl.

Ausiello: One of the cliffhangers involves Georgina ... and Dan, and another Blair and Chuck. Actually, the latter is less a cliffhanger and more a itisaboutfreakingtime. (Real word. No lie. Look it up if you don't believe me!)

Does this mean that Chuck and Blair will finally get together? Does Dan hook up with Georgina? Or does Georgina know who the long-lost sibling of Dan and Serena is? Or does Georgina know that Dan is Gossip Girl (hey he is a writer)? I don't know if I can wait three more days (OK that was dramatic). XOXO

Gossip Girl - Flashback?

I was a little disappointed last night with Gossip Girl; not the real time part, the 80's flashback. I had a hard time understanding the point of the flashback (especially if it was not picked up) and the grainy quality did nothing for my eyes.

In New York, circa now, it was Prom! Dan springing Serena from jail to take her to the prom was flirty and fun. Both Serena and Dan seem to have loosened up and having them laugh, joke and insult each other is fun to watch. Even Chuck trying to create the perfect night for Blair (with Nate?) was fairytalish. Blair won Prom Queen because Chuck stuffed the ballot box, and Blair had her dream dress because Chuck destroyed the first one (what resources this guy has). But alas the night was imperfect when Blair and Nate broke up (probably out of total boredom).

As for the flashback, we see Lily in the early 80's dressed in all her preppy splendor trying to track down her sister. Said sister is trying to make it on her own with no help from rich Daddy. Lily gets in trouble at a party (Van der Woosen is throwing the party, Serena and Eric's dad?) and is arrested. Oh and there are major sparks (OK just sparks) between Lily and some guy from the valley. That was it. Does it leave me wanting more, no not really. Oh and for those of you wanting to see No Doubt and their big television performance...yeah they were on screen for less than 3 minutes.

The moral of this story is...Gossip Girl needs to remain in real time. The flashback stuff might be interesting for some but not me. Unless I get to keep the soundtrack. I do love 80's music. Next week graduation with hints of something big; Poppy going to jail, more Georgina, Rufus and Lily's son returning from the dead, or do we finally find out who is Gossip Girl? All possibilities. XOXO

I love the 80's

Don't forget the 80's flashback is tonight on Gossip Girl (as is the prom). I cannot wait to see Lily as a teen. Although rumor has it that the spinoff is not going to make it...we will see tonight if we should be sad or not. Also, who will win Prom Queen? XOXO!

Gossip Girl - So the Bitch Really is Back

The wide eyed innocence of Georgina was starting to get to me in last night's episode of Gossip Girl. I kept hoping for the old Georgina to make a comeback and that she did; but not until the very end. At least this new found bitchiness (or rediscovery of) leaves the door wide open for more Georgina in the future (and the Georgina that we love to hate not the doe eyed sap that found the Lord). Just a few thoughts about last night...

  • Dan, SHUT UP! Stop talking! Especially to the grown ups about things that are not your business. When did Dan become the goody two shoes of Gossip Girl? And more importantly why?
  • Finally, finally Chuck lets Blair go. He lets her establish a relationship with boring old Nate because he "loves her". Whatever dude. I know that the saying is "if you love someone set them free" but free to do what? Live a boring life with no scheming ever. That is just not Blair. Obviously we have not seen the last of this triangle.
  • I almost threw up when Gabriel tried to get Serena to believe that he really cared about her and that he wanted another chance. You stole money from her family and friends and want her back in the sack. I thought for a moment that she considered it but alas maybe Serena does have some sense.
  • When did Lily become an old fuddy-duddy? She wanted to let Poppy get away (and she did) so as not to cause a scandal. But then she had her own daughter arrested? All of this is a build up to the episode (and maybe spin off) of the young Lily that airs next week. Maybe we will begin to understand why she is so conflicted.
  • As for the botched Rufus engagement; did we ever really think that was going to happen? Rich woman, poor man with pride (now a poor man with no pride would work) never works.
Only two(?) more episodes left (I think) and next week is the 80's flashback and the Prom. Does this mean that Poppy does get away with the money until next season? What about Rufus and Lily's "dead" child? Will Jenny ever get a new haircut? Where is Vanessa? Till next week. XOXO

Gossip Girl - Real or Fake

Real or fake? Was this not the theme of last night's show?

Is Gabriel real or fake? It looks like he is a big, fat fake but then he looked slightly upset about taking Rufus's life savings. And did you see the previews for next week? Does Poppy run off with all of the money? Not to be too much of a stickler but for those of you who do not know...people from North Carolina do not talk like Gabriel. Also, if your Daddy's business is tobacco in North Carolina you go in to your Daddy's business. No one branches out on their own.

Georgina born again! Real or fake? She almost had me talking about her new found understanding of life and her sins but the moment that Chuck mentioned Blair all of the sweetness was gone and she looked ready for revenge. I am ready for a little tussle I must admit but it looks as if she might be (gulp) helping everyone.

Blair and Nate's relationship? I am not sure about this one. Are they convenient or do they really love each other? Would Blair be better off with Chuck? Do I actually care? Sadly yes but only time will tell on this one. Especially if they actually move in together.

Just one brief "I call stupid" moment. The premise behind not trusting Gabriel was that he did not actually meet Serena at Butter (some club in New York) because it was closed the night they "supposedly" met. So what? So he did not meet her with Georgina. What does that have to do with anything? Just checking.

It is getting good and I am looking forward to the evil Georgina making her comeback (which will more than likely not happen but a girl can dream). Sadly I hate the fact that Rufus will lose all of his money (you know it is inevitable). XOXO

Georgina is Back - XOXO

I don't know how she will tie in to the storyline! I don't know what is going on with Poppy and Gabriel! But some how, some way Georgina will be involved. Watch tonight!

Gossip Girl is Back!!!

Thank goodness the show that I know and love has returned! Finally last night's episode of Gossip Girl brought back the sex, lies and campy fun that has been missing from the show since before Christmas. I did not think it could happen but Little J's birthday did bring back the pizazz. Five things I loved about the new episode...

1. Serena is bringing back the "bad" girl and losing her "save the world and all my friends" attitude. By disappearing to Spain (and sending her plans via text to her mother) she has decided that she is in a rut (and she was). What took you so long Serena?

2. Chuck and Vanessa together "no strings attached", its just sex. Take that Nate and your boring self.

3. Jenny inviting everyone on to her party by posting on Gossip Girl. Stupid yes but still funny.

4. Rufus and Lily not moving in together. Thank goodness they nipped that one in the bud. How boring and easy would that be?

5. Doroda in general on all of the episodes. She is just hilarious. I love that she has become Blair's confidant. It so adds to the campiness of the show.

*Please note that I did not add Nate and Blair back together as one of my favorite moments. Although this pairing led to Chuck and Vanessa the entire "romance" was too boring for words.

Hopefully the show will not lose any of its new zing when it returns on April 20th. Here is hoping that it is "back" for good!
