Amazing Race + Rachel = Painful

I love the Amazing Race.  I mean I really love the Amazing Race.  But this season with the inclusion of Rachel and Brendon (of Big Brother fame) it is almost too painful to watch.  I normally do not wish for someone to lose on the Amazing Race (OK maybe I do but this time I really mean it) but these two must go.  This girl (Rachel) is the most annoying, immature, whiny, fame loving whore (whew I needed to get that off my chest).  I am not sure what Brendon, the PhD candidate, sees in her.  Yep she has big boobs but there is nothing else.  I am hoping she goes home soon.  I have to fast forward through her parts.  Her voice just grates and grates and grates and so on....

The Week That Was...

I know, I know I have not posted all week. This week was my last week of preschool for the year (yeah) and I had a lot of loose ends to tie up at work. Then on top of that, I got sick (fever, sore throat etc). Then, on top of that, I had my daughter's birthday party today (her birthday was a few weeks ago but party was today). I have been trying to read the blogs but my mind has not been able to write anything. With that said, I have a few comments about some of the shows this week.

The Amazing Race - I was extremely disappointed that Jet and Cord (the cowboys) did not win. They deserved it and I loved the way they ran the race. I did not hate on Caite as much as most so I was a little taken aback by Carol (or Brandy forget which one) attacking her at the finish line.

Glee - Always love the show but this weeks episode was not as great as some have been. I loved (and will continue to love) the story of Kurt and his Dad but I do feel like we keep reliving the same thing (upset gay son, dad understands, dad and gay son hug).

Modern Family - Most of the time the funniest show on television and when Mitchell says to Cam (about Lily in jungle prints) "she might get confused and think she is back in Vietnam" I thought I was going to lose my shit.

Friday Night Lights - Hands down the best show ever. I adore Landry and his facial expressions and the breakdown of Luke (Dillon Panther boy) was so honest and heartfelt I got a little teared up. And when Tami basically said screw you to JD McCoy I wanted to shout out "I will survive sucker". Watch this show...just watch it. Oh and interesting fact - The guy who plays Luke (formerly he was on Lipstick Jungle) graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts which is where my sister graduated from. Just thought this was reportable.

I think that this is everything. I will try to be better this week. The last few weeks of school just seem to be going way too fast. Let me know how everyone is doing please....

The Amazing Race - You Tried Hard

My children and I watched the Race last night and were happy to see the Cowboys come back from the previous last place finish. From last to first and as Phil said, "first time in Amazing Race history." Sadly the team that finished last week in first was eliminated this week. Steve and Allie (the father, daughter team) have had to say farewell to the Race. I would like to give them a blog post worthy of the amount of screen time that they received on the Race but this post has already surpassed that. Goodbye Steve and Allie, not really sure that you will be missed but you tried real hard (that was what my Dad always said when I lost a basketball game).

Goodbye J and J on The Amazing Race

After watching Sunday night's episode of The Amazing Race, reluctantly I must say goodbye to my favorite couple of the season. Jordan and Jeff have been fun and have given us all something to laugh at and they have been able to laugh at themselves (most of the time). I got a kick out of Jordan's entire Joan of Arc conversation (Noah and Joan must get confused all the time) while Jeff just smiled and informed her that she was thinking of Noah. Or when Jeff announced that the reason that kids should watch the two of them is to remind them to stay in school. I loved their whole attitude and they will be missed. Pretty and dumb but with a great attitude is an awesome combination. Goodbye J and J, now I am unsure who to pull for to win the race. Thanks for making us laugh.

The Amazing Race - Outlassoed...

I have to wait until Tuesday night to watch the Amazing Race so that my children can watch with me. They love the show and I will not allow them to stay up to watch (I know I am a mean mom). Anyway, we just watched this week's episode and here are my basic thoughts.

I love that the cowboys are doing so well because no one thinks that they are very smart. The kids and I even watched the "Elimination Station" (this is online and shows when the booted teams arrive at the holding place until the show is over) and everyone was shocked that the Cowboys were still racing. My only complaint is that this week all activities seemed geared to keeping the Cowboys in first place. I mean lassoing and horses; what more could they have asked for?

I felt so bad for Caite and Brent and the puking. You know Caite had to be just appalled by the fact that she threw up on national television. They pulled it together and did not finish last (just barely) but I am wondering if their delicate little bodies can handle the grueling race.

Kudos to the dad and daughter team (Steve and Allie) for jumping ahead a few spots to finish in 2nd place. They ran a great leg; even with Steve falling (again).

As for the eliminated team. I did not feel either way about Monique and Shawne. They seemed like good competitors but we really did not get to know them at all.

One final note...funniest line of the night; when Jeff looked and Jordan and said "I am not sure if we should reproduce" after failing to understand the clue for the 3rd or 4th time. They are quickly becoming my favorite team.

The Amazing Race - The Cowboy Way

I finally just watched the Amazing Race from Sunday night and I wanted to give a few thoughts and shout-outs to the show.

First, I love, love, love that the cowboys won this leg of the race. They look and sound a little slow but they surprised us all with their sneakiness and ability to thrive on their own. Good job Jet and Cord. Oh and by the way, how do you forget your hat cover? Its the Amazing Race, it will rain at some point. Kudos for making your own.

Dear Amazing Race, please make detours more challenging. Both "challenges" seemed easy and inconsequential to the race and the country the teams were in. I like to watch the teams sweat and learn about the local culture.

Next, the blurring of the cows pooping just makes me laugh. Not sure what CBS was protecting us, the viewers, from but I am still laughing. CBS there is a book out there called "Everybody Poops" read it.

I actually enjoy the little interviews with Jeff and Jordan. She is clueless and he just seems to enjoy tripping her up. Funny stuff and they actually seem like a real couple to me. Not at all sure about the lesbians. They are not very nice. I was hoping to like them but as of right now it is not happening.

Finally, not that sad to see Grandmother and granddaughter lose. The Grandmother (what was her name again) seemed rehearsed and wanted to be old and soft-spoken while the granddaughter had very little personality at all.

Looking forward to a few meltdowns next week. What did you think this week?

The Amazing Race is back...

I just got back last night from the Georgia mountains. We had so much fun (even with the snow). The trip was exactly what my husband and I needed but it has been difficult coming back to reality today. With that said, I have been very excited about The Amazing Race returning and watched Sunday's episode last night. Loved it, loved it, loved it and with so many fun couples the show seems to be back after the snoozefest of last season (who won that one anyway?). For a full recap check out EW.com (here). I just wanted to point out my top 5 stupid/funny thoughts from the first episode.

1. Chile is not pronounced China ever. This is for Jordan and Jeff (of Big Brother fame). Jordan could not seem to recognize this fact as she kept mispronouncing where the first stop was going to be.
2. Brazil and Chile are two different countries. Jet and Cord (cowboy hats)seemed unaware of this has they exchanged money for Chile and decided that Brazilian money made sense?
3. Always, always follow the clues word for word. Even if you don't understand what a word means, ask! Have you learned nothing from seasons past Caite and Brent? Another missed clue, another 30 minute penalty. By the way Caite is the Teen Miss SC who did not know what geography was which leads me to #4.
4. Make sure that you include a gay man when you have also included a former beauty queen that has been portrayed as a complete imbecile on national television. Gay men apparently do wicked impersonations of beauty queens. Very impressive Jordan (of the brothers team).
   
5. Loved, loved, loved that the Dad and daughter team (Steve and Allie) painted the inside of a house before they figured out that they were in the wrong place. I would have loved to have hung out with those workers while this was happening. I bet they were laughing their asses off.

So the show is off to a great start as far as I can tell. Sad to see the high school sweethearts (Dana and Adrian) get booted first but someone has to go home on the first leg. Looks like a great season. Not sure who my team is yet but I will let you know. Any thoughts? Are you happy with the fact that the show continues to put "named" people in the race? Later all.

The Amazing Race - Farewell

I needed to write a quick letter after watching Sunday's episode of The Amazing Race (bear with me)...

Dear Flight Time and Big Easy,

Thank you both for being the team with the best attitude on The Amazing Race ever (except maybe Jon and Kris from Season 6). You were both classy, classy guys with wonderful smiles. Maybe not the smartest when it came to puzzles but definitely the team that looked like they were having the most fun. You will be missed in a finale of which I have no team to pull for.

Thanks for remembering the joy of the game.

The Amazing Race - Final Three

I have yet to watch last night's episode of The Amazing Race but have read on other blogs today who is in the final three. Margie and Luke (deaf guy and mom), Tammy and Victor (Asian brother and sister) and Cara and Jaime (friends, cheerleaders and mean girls) all made it to the finale. I also heard a rumor that the reason Lakisha and Jenn (black sisters) did not make it was that they had to use the bathroom. Is this true? I was kind of hoping that they would come back after last weeks pool debacle. Plus I felt that the two sisters received the bad press on the run in with Margie and Luke and I wanted them to prove themselves. But alas it was not meant to be and the sisters were sent packing. Now who am I going to pull for? The cheerleaders have been rude to foreigners all over the world (one of the reasons that people in other countries hate Americans), Margie and Luke seem to be out to prove something all the time and Tammy and Victor are the obvious choice to win and I love an underdog. Oh Mel and Mike I miss you so much....

The Amazing Race - Who Will I Pull For Now?

I watched The Amazing Race last night with a heavy heart when I realized that Mel and Mike (gay father/son team) were going to be the ones to go home. They got off the plane in Thailand and trusted a cab driver (you can never do that) and one wrong turn later they were out of the game. I am so upset. Who will I pull for now? My son keeps telling me I needed a plan B and I don't have one for the remaining teams. The remaining teams are:

Cara and Jaime - The NFL cheerleaders who have no respect for anyone who does not speak English. These two get frustrated with anyone that does not understand them (which is a lot) and continue to yell until they get their way.

Lakisha and Jennifer - Sisters and former basketball players, these two are not bad and seem nice but I lost a little respect when the one who had to run in her underwear announced that she did not wear underwear and that she had a great body (learn some humility sweetheart).

Margie and Luke - This is the team with the mother/son combination and the son is deaf. You would think that I would pull for them (love the underdogs) but Luke had a hand in sending hot Kris home so I will forever hold him responsible for not getting to see Kris run through Russia in his underwear.

Mark and Michael - The short (are they little people?) stuntman brothers are fun to watch because they can never get it right (think the blonds just shorter) but one of them has a mean streak and I cannot pull for that.

Tammy and Victor - Overconfident, over athletic brother/sister team that normally can do no wrong. Victor and his smug self just bothers me.

So there you have it (hee hee), who do I pull for? Who do I want to win? Who do you want to win?

The Week in My Shows

My two main "Reality" shows that I have to watch every week are; The Amazing Race and The Biggest loser (now I watch others but these two get watched before anything else). My one other show that jumps to the front of my Tivo is Gossip Girl. Without further ado here is my quick take on these three shows this week and I hope to be back to normal next.

First, as stated before Gossip Girl was a huge disappointment. I have been waiting a month for new episodes and this is the tired shit they bring to me. This secret society thing that Chuck had going on was just stupid and now you want us to believe that Blair would rather be with no name Carter as opposed to Chuck Bass. As for Dan's "affair" with the teacher (who looked 15 by the way) dumb and dumber. She was too mousy to last very long and I was glad to see her leave. The play on The Age of Innocence did not work and became even more far-fetched when Serena discovered that the object of her affection was gay. I say Bring back Georgina (my God did I really say that?)!

The Amazing Race was the usual of high energy teams moving from place to place and then a hiccup. The Roadblock ended up being that one person from each team had to strip down to their skivvies and run a few miles in the cold Russian climate. So this is the Roadblock that comes up after Kris is eliminated! Really? How could you do this to me? Anyway, all the other teams completed the task as the flight attendants came in last (she had to do her run in a thong). But no elimination this week so everyone stays. As always, I hate when that happens (unless it is a team I love).

Finally, this week on The Biggest Loser the contestants all got to go home for a week and....run a half marathon? Yes they got to see their families but the challenge for the week was to complete a half marathon (13.2 miles I think) and the person with the fastest time received $10,000. With a little game play involved Sione won the money. The weigh-in was what you would expect for the teams after spending a week at home and once again the Blue team loses to the Black team. So who goes home? It should have been Audrey (not that I wanted that) since Ron, Kristin, and Cathy had an alliance but Cathy sacrificed herself (now this is how a mother should be Helen) and she was sent home. On to next week and I am ready to see one of the Black team members get sent home (just not Mike).

This is my synapses for the week (not bad right) and I finished my part of the gift for my parents. So maybe I can do it all...wait where are my children?

The Amazing Race - The Highlights

It's over! No more eye candy on The Amazing Race now that KRIS and amanda have been eliminated. I watched Sunday's episode last night hoping that the hot man and his woman would overcome the challenges and stay in the race but alas it was not to be.

And they were screwed by the "sweet" deaf guy and his mother. Yes you read that right people...Margie and Luke U-Turned (a race term that means that the racers have to complete two tasks instead of one) Kris and Amanda and they could never recover.

As for the rest of the race; the little people, Mark and Michael, do not seem very smart. They are constantly missing things or walking right by obvious clues. It is amazing that they are still in the race.

Speaking of which, hell has frozen over because the flight attendants, Christie and Jodi, finished first this week. I was shocked and I assume that they were as well but their faces (as always) were devoid of any expression (too much botox I assume).

The Amazing Race - In Brief

I have started watching The Amazing Race on Monday nights with my children (they love it) so any comments I have will not be posted until Tuesday. This week's episode was not very exciting but I had a few items that I wanted to voice. For a full recap check out EW. com here.

• I love that Mike and Mel (gay father/son team) came in first this week. They are fun to watch and I just love the relationship that they have. Both father and son can get a little snarky but then there is a hug or kiss and all is right with the world. I loved that Mike uttered not one word of complaint about wearing the gymnastics uniform (and it was tight!). If we could all be that laid back (I am saying this now who knows what will happen next week?)?

• I hate it when a team that I don't care about gets eliminated. Sounds weird I know but if you are not invested in the pit stop the the show loses its luster.

• Kris is still hot!

• Vampires are everywhere. Who knew that The Amazing Race would jump on that bandwagon.

• I am not crazy about Victor and Tammy. She seems sweet but he is so controlling (big brother) and the crying thing this week was a little contrived (I was not moved).

I am still trying to decide who to pull for so next week it is. Later taters.

The Amazing Race - Pieface

For anyone who has played Pathwords on Facebook (it is addictive) a friend of mine told me the other day that Pieface was accepted as a word. Just a little trivia to get you started.

Anyway the second episode of The Amazing Race started off well and ended a little sad. I am not going to do a full recap of the race (others do it better) but I will give a few of my Opinions (because that is what I do).

• I was sad to see Linda and Steve go. They were interesting in their simplicity and I felt bad for her because she felt so guilty. And truly does anyone really think that the stewardess blondes are any smarter?

• Kris (of the team Amanda and Kris) is hot. He looks even better with cake smeared all over his face.

• I loved that Mel and Mike were patient at the Roadblock and Mel was able to paraglide off the mountain and make up some time.

• For those that remain on the show; always ask your cab driver for a phone and check on flights. The show is in its 14th season. Have you not learned anything?

• I have always wanted to throw a pie at someones face which made the Detour seem like so much fun. My husband better watch out because that might be the next thing I check off my list.

The Amazing Race

The Top 5 Reasons to watch this season of The Amazing Race (Sunday nights on CBS)...

1. I love Phil and after 14 seasons he just keeps standing on the mat and smiling.

2. The Hillbillies from Martinsville, Virginia. They have bad teeth, they yell at each other and she cries (a lot) but hell they are entertaining.

3. The flight attendants Christie and Jodi. I need the entire hour to figure out how much plastic surgery is too much!4. Bungee jumping in Switzerland on the first episode!

5. Season 14 = less airport time, clock information on your screen, and a split screen when necessary. Way to upgrade!

The Amazing Race Winners

Congrats to Nick and Starr for winning the Amazing Race 13! We all knew the race was going to be between Nick and Starr and Ken and Tina (famous eyebrows and all). Once again Dan and Andrew got lost and were not in the final leg at all. I wish that Toni and Dallas had been there (where were they by the way at the finale?) to make things a little more interesting. But congrats to the brother and sister team and hopefully the next round will be a little less yawn and a little more fun.

Side note...this morning on The Early Show Ken and Tina were holding hands and let everyone know that their marriage has taken a turn for the better. Good for them for hanging on and working things out. Even if she is funny to look at.

Playing Catch up....

Just a few notes on my favorite shows this week. Having visitors can mess up your whole schedule so this is all you get and I will resume real updates next week.

The Amazing Race - I was totally bummed that Toni and Dallas were sent packing after Dan and Andrew never seemed to get it right. I have no one to pull for in the finale (I guess maybe Starr and Nick but that seems too easy). Does anyone else think that Tina's eyebrows are getting worse. Anyway, good luck to Toni and Dallas (although Dallas never did seem real intelligent) I loved that her respected his mother so much and that they made such a terrific team.


Gossip Girl - Obviously I Knew(as did everyone else) that Bart was going to die. I am unsure how I feel about how they are going to handle his death and how Chuck Bass (I just love saying his whole name) will take the news. As for the Jenny/Nate/Vanessa thing...yawn and double yawn. I am just glad that it is over and now little Jenny is going back to school (where she belongs) and back to trying to be the Queen Bitch.


Top Chef - Just one comment about last night's episode. Never (ever) say that you are going to go "outside of the box" when creating a meal for the elimination round. As the past has proven this is a sure way to get eliminated. Poor Alex goes out on a dessert and he did not seem too upset about it. Did he sabotage himself? We may never know.

I think that is it for the week in shows. I have been cleaning and decorating and trying to get my house into some semblance of order. Now all I have to do is begin my Christmas shopping. Later taters.

The Amazing Race - Karma is a Bitch!!!

When are people on reality television going to learn that if you are mean, you are not going to win? The are only a few examples of the "villains" ever winning the money in a reality competition (Jeffrey on Project Runway comes to mind) because the world (as we know it) likes to see "nice guys finish first". Take Christy and Kelly on The Amazing Race; they talked shit, were mean about the other contestants, lied, started fights and in general thought they were better than everyone else and in the end they were eliminated. Hows that for Karma? Plus the fact that although these girls continued to talk about what smart, strong independent women they were after their divorces; not once did they actually read a clue correctly. So although I am not a big Ken and Tina (eyebrows) fan; after finishing last, last week, and having to complete a "speed bump" to get back into the competition, I was actually pulling for them to finish before Kelly and Christy. Which, of course, they did and have moved up the ranks in the race. Who will be eliminated next? Hmmm who else has been mean and bitchy? Karma take care of it!

A few short updates...

My parents are gone (finally) and I survived the weekend (sort of). Just a few little tidbits of things I have been watching and trying to keep up with.

Any episode of the Amazing Race in which no one gets eliminated seems like a waste of time to me. Last night Tina (scary eyebrow lady) and Ken came in last but of course it was a non-elimination leg. So we have to wait until next week to see who gets booted. By the way the struggles that Ken and Tina are having trying to "fix" their relationship can be summed up in one word: Tina! She is mean, demoralizing, bitchy and condescending. I do not condone cheating (not at all) but poor Ken, maybe he did need someone to be a little sweet to him at some point. He cried at the end of the show and she just sat there. Evil!!


If you are not currently watching the show Cheerleaders on CMT; you must check it out. The show follows the making of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Team for this year. Saturday night a girl was let go for her risque pictures on MySpace. You know anything you post on the Internet will come back and bite you in the ass (says the woman with a blog).

As for Halloween: my children were hilarious. Both had fun and received plenty of candy. I have actually tried to get them to eat it because the longer it stays in the house, the worse it is for me and my waistline. Here is Wonder Woman and Bobo Fett (Star Wars guy) from Friday night. So much fun.

The Amazing Race - Season 13

Never (ever) in my life do I want to lose a million dollars (or the chance to win a million dollars) on a technicality. Mark and Bill did not follow the directions on their clue to the exact letter and incurred a penalty (they took a cab when they were supposed to walk) thus causing them to come in last place and be eliminated.


No major excitement last night other than an almost girl fight between Kelly and Christy (the divorcees) and Starr (of the brother/sister team). Both of the divorced women ganged up on Starr because they thought that she pushed their sports bra over a ledge. Yeah it was tense and the game hinged in the balance for the woman with no sports bra. Now I would not put it past Starr to pull a stunt like this because it was funny but do these girls (Kelly and Christy) honestly believe that this is sabotage. Its a bra not your money stash.
