Friday Night Lights - The Final Season (so far)

I have been meaning to write about the best show on television since its "spring" debut, but as many of you teachers know, the end of the year is relentless.  I am finally finished and my children finish up this week so hopefully my free time is coming (hopefully).  Anyway, as most of you know, I deem Friday Night Lights the best show on television.  So many of you do not watch (which upsets me) but for those that do, here are my thoughts so far....
  • Does it bother anyone else that Julie has screwed up in college and it feels as if she is going to get away with it.  She slept with a teacher and her parents (who usually always get it right) seem to be allowing her to wallow in her own stupidity.  Side note:  does anyone else think that "Julie Taylor is a slut" will take off like "Donna Martin graduates!"
  •  Vince's Dad is a shithead!  Yep I said it.  I wanted to like him, I wanted him to do right by Vince and his mother but anyone who goes against Coach Taylor's wishes deserves whatever they get.  It seems to me that we are all waiting for the other shoe to drop and it will.  I love that Jess is so not impressed with Vince's Dad.  She is a very perceptive girl.
  • Love Luke and Becky.  I am ready for Luke to get some college love (and he will) but in the meantime I like that he is smiling a little.
  • Billy Riggins is becoming one of my favorites.  Actually the entire Riggins family.  Mindy is hilarious and how much did you love it when she took Becky home with her after witnessing Becky's not so great living situation.  But Billy (and his attention to Luke) has become a nice respite from some of the more serious storylines.
  • Finally, I must mention the "thugness" of the East Dillon players.  I am worried that Coach Taylor has lost control of the team a little (damn that Julie) and is allowing players to act and react in ways that were never allowed before.  I understand that football is a game of passion but these players are getting way out of hand.  How will Coach Taylor handle it?
The show keeps getting better.  In fact last night, my husband and I wanted to just watch the entire season because we wanted to know what happens next.  But we committed to wait and wait we will as NBC gives us a new episode every week.  Oh, I almost forgot, good to have Jason Street (Scott Porter) back for a glimpse into his life after Dillon.  Hope to see more of the same from others that we have loved and have left Dillon.   Did I miss anything?

Glee - Tonight

Don't deny it...everyone has been looking forward to tonight's season finale of Glee.  Especially since the last two weeks of the show have actually shown a new spark.  So expectations were high and well....I am not sure that tonight lived up to my expectations.  Don't get me wrong, there was some good stuff, buuuuut the entire thing felt like they were trying too hard.  A few things before I go to bed....

  • Nothing compared to Rachel and Kurt's duet.  I was never a fan of the show Wicked (do not hang me in effigy) but the music is incomparable and this was evident tonight.
  • Loving the twist about Sam and Mercedes.  Glad that the diva is finally getting a man.  Cannot wait to see where it goes.
  • I did not love the music overall.  I know that I should love the fact that the group is doing original songs, but I miss the hits.  And did anyone else feel like Matthew Morrison's solo seemed like a music video (or blatant salesmanship).
If I wake up in the morning and have more to say, than I will.  That's it for tonight though.  What did you think?  Anything great that I missed....

To Watch or Not to Watch...

The Bachelorette starts tonight and I am debating on whether or not to watch the new season.  I love the mindless aspect of the show but will I get invested (probably not)....

Glee favorites last night...

I know that some in the blogosphere gave last night's Glee episode a less than stellar review but I must admit, I loved it.  From the clothes to the songs to the "drama", I thought the entire hour was a complete joy to watch.  It kind of made me want to go back and do prom all over again.  Although at my prom, my date was a friend (who I still think is gay) so the romance factor was not there for me.  Anyway, I digress, here are my favorite moments from last night...
  • Brittany's dress was awesome, including the tiny hat in her hair.  The entire ensemble rocked and has really established Brittany as one of my favorites.
  • Loved when Kurt called Santana Satan...just a slip of the tongue.
  • Hate the song, loved the fun of it.  The boys singing Friday.
  • Artie's hair.  Love or hate it, at least he was different.
  • Dancing Queen was fun and a wonderful way to end the episode.
  • On that note, I loved the prom pictures at the end as well.  Still smiling at Brittany and Artie.
I am still unsure about Kurt winning prom queen.  I understood why, but it was an emotional roller coaster during what should have been a lighthearted episode.  Also, on the fence about Jesse St. James returning.  But my goodness he has some pipes.

And things I hated....Finn/Rachel/Quinn thing.  I am over it already.  Sad that Finn missed the prom but lets move on.  Pick one or the other.

So what did you think about last night?  Did I miss anything?  I really, really enjoyed it and I am relieved.  I was becoming a little less excited about Glee.  Now the excitement is back.

Ahh the good old days come back...

Sadly Whitney Houston is not doing well.  Maybe crack is not as whack as we think.  She has entered rehab...

does anyone remember the interview.  yes I do...

 Poor Whitney...

Forget something?

Thought this picture of Jessica Simpson was funny.  Really?  No pants...

Is it an outfit?  Or the "walk of shame"

Does this look familiar....

This is my night...a lot

Gossip Girl - Been There Done That...

Yes I am still watching Gossip Girl (which airs tonight).  I had an epiphany last week and wanted to share it.  The Gossip Girl writers keep the show going because they just use old scripts over and over again.  As we once again regurgitate the ever depressing storyline of Chuck Bass having yet another breakdown, I wonder when and how the show will continue after this year.  I feel that at the end of every season, Chuck is on the verge of losing his shit and someone has to save him.  The only possible way this season could have been saved (Serena and the boring teacher, Nate who?, Vanessa the lurker) was the Dan and Blair storyline.  They were funny, interesting, bratty and new!  We will see what happens tonight but I am losing all interest in the show.  Someone save it please....

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

So today is Mother's Day and I have had a wonderful day.  I did buy my own gift a few weeks ago (which is fine because at least I got what I wanted) and now I am sitting on the couch watching reruns of Project Runway on the Style network.  And these are the good reruns...the days of Santino and Nick and Andre'.  Not the newer ones that have a tendency to be boring.  Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful moms out there.  None of us would be who we are without you.
