Can't Bitch if You Don't Vote

Last night I watched the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. I have watched all season just have not recapped due to time constraints. So here is my opinion (whether you want it or not). I am pissed that Ashleigh and Ryan are in the final 6 (and don't get me started about the fact that it is not the final 4). Legacy should have been in the finale as should have Mollee (surprisingly). As I was complaining about this fact my husband (the sage that he is) interrupted and asked how many times I voted this season. "Well none" I said, "but still" and he announced "you can't bitch if you don't vote". As much as I hate to admit it, he is correct. So after watching the performances last night; I voted (more than once). And I voted for....yep you guessed it..Russell. The smile, the style and the dance won me over. Honestly I would not be devastated if Kathryn won but I really want Russell to come out of this victorious. As for favorite dances this season, very few jump out and grab me. Noelle and Russell's painting number was good, Jakob and Mollee's waltz was beautiful. Any others that were great? Anyway, go Russell. Looking forward to tonight.

Trying to get Caught Up..

Christmas is upon us and I have been remiss in keeping up with my blogger friends (and trying to write a little something on my blog) but I wanted to reach out and say hello to one and all.

I was just reading David Dust and also wanted to give a shout-out to my favorite show of this new season...Glee. I love it, love it, love it and last night's "fall finale" did not disappoint.

A few others that I am loving thus far this season...Cougar Town, Modern Family, So You Think You Can Dance (as always), Gossip Girl (getting back into its groove the past few weeks), NCIS:Los Angeles and Bones.

My goodness I watch a lot of television. Anyway, I miss you all and will check in soon.

The Amazing Race - Farewell

I needed to write a quick letter after watching Sunday's episode of The Amazing Race (bear with me)...

Dear Flight Time and Big Easy,

Thank you both for being the team with the best attitude on The Amazing Race ever (except maybe Jon and Kris from Season 6). You were both classy, classy guys with wonderful smiles. Maybe not the smartest when it came to puzzles but definitely the team that looked like they were having the most fun. You will be missed in a finale of which I have no team to pull for.

Thanks for remembering the joy of the game.

Tivo Mom

PS Please tell me that a little part of you wants to kick the brothers ass for screwing you in the Roadblock. Just a little part.

There are great people...

Thanksgiving is upon us and we all need to take a little time to reflect on what we are thankful for. So much is written about the faults people have these days. The news is overrun with stories of horror and evil. Celebrities cannot seem to deny their lives of excess and overindulgence. With all of this said, I just read a story about Chris Spielman (here), a former NFL player who recently lost his wife to cancer. In the early stages of her fight, Speilman took a leave from the NFL to be with his wife and help her through her treatment. Now this is not something that an average man would not do, it becomes shocking when the act is completed by someone famous. I need to read more positive reports these days to remember the good in people. It is out there we just have to acknowledge and be thankful for it.

Did Anyone Watch?

Ok, I am not a Sarah Palin fan. Never have been. As a Republican, I was completely devastated last year when she was picked as the VP candidate. But of course I wanted to watch her Oprah interview just to see if I was right in my original dislike. And for the record, yes I was! She seemed fake, scripted and too gung ho about her "wonderful marriage". Here's the thing; I like people with imperfections. I want to know that you and your husband fight every once in awhile. I want to know that when your stupid-ass ex maybe son-in-law decides to reveal your secrets and pose for Playgirl that it pisses you off. The entire interview seemed tense and superficial. Oprah tried but there was no warmth at all. Just wanted to sound off. Did anyone else watch?

Did You Know?

For those of you that did not know, tickets for the November 20th premiere of New Moon (Twilight's second movie) have gone on sale already. And yes I have bought my ticket. And yes I will be attending the movie in my new shirt that I just purchased...And this is why I will be wearing this shirt...

Just so you know.

Madonna on Glee (but what song?)...

I was just reading an online vote on People.com (here) about Madonna appearing on Glee. Apparently our favorite "icon" has opened her catalogue of songs up to my favorite show and everyone wants to know, "what song will be sung?" I was not pleased with People's choice of songs to vote on so let me give you my wish list of Madonna's music that I hope to see (and hear) on the show..

Holiday - Who does not want to dance when this song comes over the speaker. Always great for a late night party back in the day and any one of the gleesters could handle the tune.

Borderline - My favorite song (and video) when it first came out. Why not do a Quinn/Finn/Puck remake? Throw Rachel in there as well.

Material Girl - Really? How could this not be on the list. Classic!

Like a Prayer - Another one that all could sing. What a great, fun, dance number this could be.

Crazy for You - Rachel, Emma, Quinn (and so on) could sing to their respective objects of affection.

So what do you think? What Madonna song are you dying to hear? Did I miss a good one? I know that most of my list is from the early days; these are my fondest memories of the Material Girl.

Working it out...

I have spent the last month trying to figure out my life. I certainly, in this amount of time, have not figured anything out but I am feeling more at peace. To be truly happy I have to have something for me that does not include being a wife and mother. Not that I don't love these titles but I have to be me as well. And me likes to blog. It is mine (all mine) and if people read what I write or not, I have done this on my own. So I am back (sort of). I am going to blog on my terms and when I want to it. I hope that you will read what I have written but make no mistake, the posting will be sporadic.

I have also decided that to be happy, me also needs to lose weight. I just got a post about my 20 year high school reunion in 2010 (are you effing kidding me?). 10 pounds is all I want to lose...so here we go again (on my own). My jeans are tight and I am not happy with my body. I will keep you posted.

Otherwise, I have missed you all and have been trying to keep up a little. Let me know if anything exciting has happened.

Taking a Break...

After careful consideration (and a whole lot of soul searching) I have decided to take a break with the Blogging for awhile. This does not mean I won't be checking in (and posting things that I have a comment about) it just means that I will stop pressuring myself to get a post done. As you may have noticed the last few weeks I have not been recapping or mentioning my favorite shows very often. The truth is, I am down and out and I need to rediscover myself (my figure) and my love of writing in general. Hopefully I will be back soon but I am going to get my shit together so that when I do come back I will be ready and raring to go. I will miss you all. And thanks for the support.

Gossip Girl...really?

Just watched Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl. A few things about this episode seemed dumb or implausible but I would only like to mention one. Dan and Georgina? Are you F**king kidding me? That is all I have to say.

How I Met Your Mother (last night)

After all of my excitement (and I had a lot believe me) last night's season premiere of HIMYM was a little bit of a letdown. Please understand; the show was cute (read cute) and as always I adore my NPH but (there is a but) I do not want the sole focus of the show to become about Barney and Robin's (or Barnman and Robin hee hee) relationship. I am hoping that after getting the question of the relationship out of the way, the show will return to it's true self next week. I believe that the idea of Ted as a Professor opens the door to a lot of funny stuff (the hat and the whip last night was great) and I think that Barney and Robin "pretending" to be a couple could be very funny. I just don't want to lose Barney Stinson and what makes him so great. Only time will tell and of course I will continue to watch with bated breath. Just a mention from my husband (he is such a guy); did anyone else notice Lily's (Alyson Hannigan) bigger boobs last night. Breastfeeding is really paying off for her. OK there I said it. What did you think about last night's episode?

My First Shot

So today was the day. I had to administer my first ever shot to myself. I have been putting it off all day and I knew that once the kids got home from school I would never do it. SOOOOOO with that said I gathered my courage, sat down, cleaned the area and DID IT!!!! My hands shook the whole time but I did it. I have now completed my first ever shot and feel as if I conquered a fear. But now I have to do it again in two weeks. Happy Tuesday everyone.

My Ode to the Emmys

My tradition is to watch. I get excited. I order takeout. I stake my claim on the comfortable couch. The hour chimes. The show begins. The host is great. Of course. And then I realize. No show that I watch wins. Ever. I watch and watch. I cheer. I tear up. I even laugh. Why do I watch? Do my shows suck? Am I missing something? Waste of time? Or still a tradition.

The Emmy's Tonight

I am wildly excited about watching NPH (for you uninformed that's Neil Patrick Harris) host the Emmy's tonight. I hope that he does not disappoint. I also hope that he finally wins a well-deserved statue. I almost boycotted this years show when my beloved Friday Night Lights was once again ignored. But once I found out NPH was hosting, I almost (read almost) forgave the Emmy people. So I am looking forward to tonight and I hope to comment on the show throughout (after I eat my Chinese takeout). I love my little traditions. So get ready everyone. Stars arrive at 6:00 (EST) on E.

Let This Be a Better Week...

NFL starts in about 10 minutes and I am hoping that my picks for the week are a little better than last. As it stands right now I am 4 from the bottom. Not good people. Anyway here are my picks for the week. I will let you know how I do tomorrow. Happy Sunday!

Oakland 8
Tennessee 10
NY Jets 12
Green Bay 6
Detroit 7
New Orleans 14
Carolina 2
Washington 13
Arizona 3
San Francisco 4
Buffalo 15
Denver 11
San Diego 5
Pittsburgh 16
NY Giants 9

Happy betting for me. God I am addicted.

Slacker That I am...

I know that I have been a big slacker this week. I had wanted to say a few words about The Biggest Loser and have yet to complete the post. I have no excuses besides the fact that I am busy and the one thing that will (and can suffer) is this blog. Besides work and school, all of the kids activities have started and I never feel as if I have a moment alone to collect my thoughts. And then after everyone is in bed (after about 8) my brain just shuts down. Again I know that I am not the only one but I wanted to give some explanation for my lack of care and work on this blog.

I never wanted this to be a have too; this should be a want too and I am working on how to balance everything. I hope that everyone has had a good week. By the way did you see the "boy band" on Glee last night? Hilarious!!!

The Biggest Loser Tonight!!!!

Don't forget the two hour season premiere of The Biggest Loser tonight. As I watch I hope to get motivated to have my own transformation this season. I am a stress eater (I hate those bitches that get stressed and lose weight) and lately with all of the stress (no money, job issues etc) I have been eating like a fiend. And crap, I eat crap. Its not like I crave salad. Anyway, I will be watching tonight. I have been missing Bob (and Jillian too). Update tomorrow. Later all, I am off to soccer.

Who Watched Last Night?

Last night was the season premiere of Gossip Girl and I want to hear your thoughts? As I turned on the television with bated breath....not that kind of thing. I want to hear the bitchiness. One of my friends today wanted to mention Vanessa's hair. WTF? Was it dreads or just dreadful? This is what I am talking about. Here are my top 5 (for good or bad) observations:

1. Chuck Bass looked good last night. Not sure why this would be different than any other season but I needed to mention it.

2. Blair and Chuck need conflict, and a lot of it. I cannot stand the nicey, nicey crap. Play the games! This is why we love you both.

3. Serena's weird obsession with her father's attention should have been dealt with in therapy many years ago. Not sure where this storyline is going.

4. The West Side Storyline of Nate and this Buckley girl could get old fast. She is cute but Nate needs someone with a little flavor to offset his bland character.

5. Speaking of hair...Dan looked like he had on a "Welcome Back Kotter" wig last night. Hairstyling help is needed on set, pronto!

These are my observations. If you want a full recap check out EW.com (here). What did you think? Was it worth the wait?

Patrick Swayze Remembered

I just looked at People.com and realized that Patrick Swayze has died today at the age of 57. What a sad, sad day for my teenage self. Dirty Dancing was the first movie that I paid to see multiple times and Patrick Swayze was on my wall for a good portion of my teen years. He will be remembered and for years to come the phrase "nobody puts baby in the corner" will be spoken with a smile. Goodbye Patrick. Thanks for the teenage crush!

The Football Scores...

Not a great first week. After a full Sunday of games it does not look as if I am going to repeat my winning season from last year. I was only able to pick 5 of 13 games for a total of 43 points. Now I had some close games (I lost the Giants by 1/2 point) but at the end of the day I sucked. Maybe next week will be better. I will let you know my standings. This might be a long year.

Is Anyone Else Excited About Gossip Girl?

Tonight is the night. Gossip Girl season premiere at 9:00 on the CW. I cannot wait. The gang is headed to college and who knows what is in store for everyone. What will happen to Nate and Blair, Serena and Dan, the bastard child of Rufus and Lily? God I can't wait. How sad is my life?

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Today is the day. The first full Sunday of NFL games. Last year, as most of you know, I came in first in our little NFL pool. I walked away with $650 and was very proud of myself for beating my husband and my brother. This year I am going to post my picks every Sunday so that you can see how I do. Just remember that for me there is no rhyme or reason. I do this for fun, I have my favorites and when in doubt if the team has an NC State alum I will pull for them. Also remember I am picking against a spread and I have to rank the teams based on my level of expectations (does this make sense?). For example: this week I rank the Sunday games from 16 to 4 based on which game I am most sure of and which I am least. So my #16 this week is the Giants who I expect to beat the Redskins by 6.5 or more. If the Giants win this game by more than 6.5 points I receive 16 points, make sense? So without further ado, here are my picks for the week. We will see what happens.

My Picks Points
Miami 4
Baltimore 5
Carolina 7
Cincy 12
Cleveland 6
Houston 15
Indy 13
New Orleans 9
Dallas 8
Arizona 14
NY Giants 16
Seattle 10
Green Bay 11

and here are the spreads that I had to use. Tell me what you think.

Sunday Spreads
ATLANTA - 4 - Miami
BALTIMORE - 13 - Kansas City
Philadelphia - 1.5 - CAROLINA
CINCINNATI - 4.5 - Denver
Minnesota - 4 - CLEVELAND!
HOUSTON - 4.5 - NyJets
INDIANAPOLIS - 7 - Jacksonville
NEW ORLEANS - 13 - Detroit
Dallas - 6 - TAMPA
ARIZONA - 6.5 - San Francisco
NYGINTS - 6.5 - Washington
SEATTLE - 8.5 - St. Louis
GREEN BAY - 3.5 - Chicago

This should be interesting!

Doctor's Appointment

I had some interesting news this week. Apparently I am B12 deficient (the vitamin). I have not thought anything of this; apparently it is the new thing. Anyway the way in which you build up your B12 is to get shots; which I have been doing for 4 months. I started with everyday, then went to every week and finally the last few months I have had a shot monthly. I went to the doctor this week and the shots are not working. Soooooooooo....I now have to give myself a shot every two weeks. Wait what? WTF (you know what this means right)? I actually have to stick myself with a needle every two weeks; on my thigh. How in the hell am I going to do this? I am currently looking for alternatives (they are limited). Freaking out just a little.

Football Tonight

Two games to keep an eye on tonight...

The first game of the NFL regular season is tonight on NBC. Pittsburgh takes on Tennessee and if that is not enough; Tim McGraw is performing.

Also on tonight on ESPN is the Georgia Tech/Clemson game. For those of us with teams in the ACC this is a good match-up and should prove to be (hopefully) an entertaining game.

Just a heads up.

Last Night on TV...

First up, So You Think You Can Dance LA auditions. I never get tired of this show. I know that the audition process seems to take awhile but I love seeing the talent (but still cringe at the wanna be's). Last night seemed to be all about tap-dancing. Ryan (Evan's - season 5- brother) had an unbelievable audition and was so fun to watch. He also had a dance-off with Bianca (another tapper from last year's audition). Lots of screen time which makes me believe that he will be around for awhile. There were some duds (what was the performance guy Cole doing) but overall the LA auditions were good. I would like more dancing and less backstory but if you don't have a "story" how are you going to get the face time?

My other show last night was of course, Glee. The Push-It performance was absolutely the funniest thing I have seen on television in a long time. I love this show! It is different, funny and poignant (is that the right combination?). I have a secret obsession with the cheerleader, Quinn. Her facial expressions are hilarious and the lines she delivers just blow me away. Maybe it is the sweet smile and the mean girl attitude. Anyway, if you have not watched last nights show, watch. So good.

It looks like Wednesday's are going to be a busy TV night. What did you think of the shows last night?

So You Think You Can Dance Tonight

I am so excited to have So You Think You Can Dance back so soon; although once again the"powers that be" (aka the stupid television people) have put too many good shows back on one night just to screw with my Tivo schedule. Therefore, I am sorry Mr. President but I will be unable to watch your speech tonight because my Tivo will be recording America's Next Top Model, SYTYCD and Glee. I obviously have my priorities in order. Just an FYI, as before I will comment on the auditions for SYTYCD but will not recap anything until we get in to the top 20.

Just Go Away

Jon Gosselin on Good Morning America: "I despise Kate"

With he amount of stupid television I watch, you would think that this is a show that I have
watched. Just so you know I have not but this does not make me less sick of Jon and Kate and their constant trying to get back at each other in public. For your children's sake (and everyone elses)...please go away. Let your 15 minutes be done and focus on your family.

The Week Ahead...

Happy Labor Day everyone. I hope that you all are having a wonderful weekend and tomorrow is a worthwhile day off. I was just programming my Tivo for the week ahead and wanted to make sure that you all had a heads up about a few new shows.

1. So You Think You Can Dance starts Wednesday on Fox. A new season already, I know, but as always I am looking forward to the show and am considering a recap for this one.

2. America's Next Top Model also starts on Wednesday on the CW. The night starts with a 2 hour season premiere and this year Tyra is working with "short" girls (5'7" and below). Still not sure that I will watch but I wanted to mention it.

3. Melrose Place is back and will be starting on Tuesday night on the CW. I am interested to hear how the new revamped show turns out. I think I will have to bow out of this one. I was so distressed by what happened to 90210 that I don't think my heart could take another disappointment.

4. The NFL is back on Thursday night. Just had to give it a mention.

5. I saved the best for last...Glee starts Wednesday night on Fox. I have been waiting all summer for this show to return and finally here it is. I cannot wait to see if I will love the show as much as I loved the Pilot. I will let you know.

So here are a few of the shows that I will be checking out this week. Vampire Diaries also begins along with a few others that I cannot fit into my already busy viewing schedule. Let me know what you are excited about. I cannot wait to hear.

Football Tonight...

Here we go again people. My team....the North Carolina State Wolfpack opens their season tonight against the South Carolina Gamecocks (always think that name is so funny). The game is on ESPN at 7 and should not impede my Project Runway watching. I literally cannot wait! I am a little sad that I will not be at the game (living in Florida sucks sometimes) but I have many friends and family members going to cheer the team on. Go Pack!!!!!!

Did I mention that I love football?

It's Official

This is the week. I have officially become a soccer mom. School has started, I am back to work and I am heading to the soccer fields 2 nights a week. I miss my blogger friends but I am trying to get into the swing of things. I promise I will get back into the groove. Now I must go take a shower (it has been two days). I have time for nothing.

Vampires are Everywhere

After happily viewing the pictures of Kellan Lutz (of Twilight fame) posted on David Dust this morning (see pictures here) I started my day. I then got an email from a teacher friend who announced that one of the 3 year olds in her class when asked, 'what would you like to be when you grow up' promptly answered "a vampire of course". My friend then asked if this was a Halloween wish and the child answered "no it is what I want to be for all time".

Now tell me we are not having a Vampire phenom at the moment.

I am not sure how I feel about this yet...

I love all things Gossip Girl (you know this). But I especially love Chuck Bass. His sarcastic charm and womanizing ways make him one of my favorite characters on television. Apparently in the upcoming season Chuck Bass will participate in a little man-on-man action. According to the books (of which I have never read) Chuck Bass swings both ways sexually. I don't have a problem with this per se; I love a good gay character. In this situation the problem that I have is that the television show has really promoted Chuck as the slutty guy. Yes he dresses well (OK he has his own style) but he sleeps around, picks up random women and in general acts like a shit. They even used Britany's song (Womanizer) to promote him. And now to do a 180 (or 360) on his character seems a little severe. Plus there is already a gay character on the show who has no screen time. I guess I will have to wait and see how the actual scene plays out before I complain. I just do not want a situation where the writers assume that once you run out of storylines for a character "lets just make him gay" will work to keep the stories fresh. Read the whole story on EW.com (here). What do you think? Happy? Excited? Frustrated? or just wait and see?

Fun Day (where is that sarcastic font)

So I received a phone call from a friend today (who lives in the neighborhood) that her oldest daughter was diagnosed with the N1H1 virus (aka the Swine Flu). I then talked to my director at the preschool to let me know that one of the children in my class (a 2 year old) has also been diagnosed. If this was not enough my children came home from their school with a note stating that a confirmed case of the virus was announced today and to be vigilant with our own children. Basically I need to look into that bubble that I had once considered a necessity for my kids.

Welcome to a new school year!!!!

Random email....

I got this from a friend the other day and some of these are kind of funny (and so true)...

Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles...

More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.
(this is so me and I hate this about myself)

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. (never happens)

I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and steel when they've invented the lighter?

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. (double yes)

The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.

Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.

There is a great need for sarcasm font.

Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the f#ck was going on when I first saw it.

How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? (I always wondered this and my linen closet can attest to this)

The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.

Was learning cursive really necessary?

Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".

I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. (all the time)

Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".

How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if I do!

Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste. (I have stopped looking good on principal)

I think that if, years down the road when I'm trying to have a kid, I find out that I'm sterile, most of my disappointment will stem from the fact that I was not aware of my condition in college.

Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...

Are you ready for some football?

As most of you know, I love football with all my heart. I adore this time of year and miss being in North Carolina for "football weather". A few key figures in the game of football have been discussed this week and I wanted to comment. Love or hate my thoughts, I still am going to voice my opinion....

Michael Vick on 60 minutes, did he show remorse or not? I am not sure but I still think he deserves to get back in the game. I am not a Vick fan. I was not when he played college ball and never have been when he played for Atlanta. I associated him with being lazy with an attitude and never felt that he gave the 100% that his team needed. But (always a but) he has served his time. He has lost millions of dollars in endorsements and two years of his life. What he did was atrocious (and yes I realize this) but he has been punished, embarrassed and subjected to ridicule (over and over). I do not agree with what he did, nor do I condone it but (but again) for a young man brought up in this environment; sometimes right and wrong can be a little skewed. There are many players in the NFL that are still playing after committing a crime (multiple times). Give Vick an opportunity to prove that he has matured. I want to see his work ethic improve as well as his attitude.

Brett Favre, please retire! For the past few years this has been dangled in our faces and we have watched you cry and walk away only to come back (more than once). As we get older our bodies change and slow down. You are no exception. I loved you in Green Bay, tolerated you in New York and will ignore you in Minnesota. As George Constanza once said "leave on a high note". Well you missed this opportunity; so now just leave.

Had to get those off my chest. Welcome to football season everyone.

Project Runway All Stars....

Thursday night on Lifetime, before the new season of Project Runway begins, a two hour special will air entitled Project Runway all-stars. The list of people (minus two) seems to be my list of favorites from seasons past.

KORTO MOMOLU Season 5
JEFFREY SEBELIA Season 3

He is only 17....

I know that I have stated more than once that I am on Team Jacob for the new Twilight movie. I have also announced that I feel like a cougar whenever I look at this movie. Here are some of his latest pictures. Now when does this movie open??????

Someone Give Me Some Good News

I need something happy! Now!!!!! Once again my husband is experiencing a pay cut and I am literally trying to find the good in anything before he comes home. End of the Summer

I have been trying all week to play catch up with my kids. Catch up in the sense that I want to make sure that they remember what a fun summer they have had. School starts next week and I do not want them to think that all we did all summer was travel and run errands. Sooooo we have been to the beach twice this week and have had multiple scheduled playdates. I think that I am cramming a lot of fun into a very short period of time. With that said if I have been a little out of it or remiss in my duties to my blogger friends, this is my reason. It has nothing to do with Bejeweled. I promise.

One thing that I do notice (and for those of you that bitch about weight this is for you). I have decided that I care more about what I look like on the beach than anyone else does. I will not wear certain swimsuits based on my body type but around here I may be the only one that thinks this way. A 200 pound woman in a string bikini is not a surprise on the beaches down here. Just a thought for the day. Why can other people be comfortable with their weight ( no matter what) and I cannot?

Walk Away From the Computer

I have a new obsession. As if keeping my house clean was not hard enough; I have discovered (with the help of my friends damn them) Bejeweled on Facebook. Bejeweled is a basic dumb game that has you fitting jewels together to get points and I hate to admit it, I am obsessed. Every time I think I may walk away, I want to try one more time for a higher score. All of a sudden I have wasted 45 minutes in my day and have absolutely nothing to show for it. Have I been a little lax on my Blog lately? Blame Bejeweled. Are the kids still not ready for school to start? Blame Bejeweled. I am trying to break the addiction and have decided to head to the beach this morning (no computers there). I will let you know how my day of no Bejeweled goes. If I go all day without it, may I play tonight?

Jeanine Wins So You Think You Can Dance

I had guests this weekend so this is my first moment to sit down and write about the results of SYTYCD on Thursday night. First let me say that I am ecstatic that Jeanine won. I was a big Brandon fan but she was wonderful and her moment was extremely heartfelt. With that said I am also relieved that America did not allow Evan to win. I love the fact that an amazing dancer took home the prize.

Other observations from the night. There were so few dances that I loved (loved) this season. A few stood out as great (Wade Robsen's jazz number, the cancer piece, the addiction piece) but there were not as many this season that made me excited about the tour. I am not sure what happened. All we heard about when this season began was how great the dancers were and how this season was going to blow us away and I am left feeling a little discouraged. Maybe it was the lack of chemistry (and not in all the pieces Jeanine and Jason had major chemistry), or maybe it was the fact that so many of the dancers were ones that we did not get to see through the audition process (Ade). Whatever the reason I did not enjoy this season as much as last.

Now going into fall television, I am excited about SYTYCD being in the fall lineup. Maybe the magic will have returned.

* One note to Fox bigwigs....please, please, please no Paula Abdul. Mary Murphy is enough to deal with.

So You Think You Can Dance - last night

Tonight is the night! 4 becomes 1! America's favorite dancer (for about a month) is crowned. And after last night I am not sure who it will be. Based on the four finalists (not the four best dancers by the way) the decision is not as clear cut as it was last season.

First, let us review Brandon. After being cut down by Mia and Lil' C in the auditions; Brandon has proven he can do just about anything and last night was no exception. His solo was amazing (a little weird but awesome to watch), and he danced every number like it was his last. All of Brandon's comments from the judges were positive, which is great. My fear is that no one will vote for Brandon because he is too obvious.

Next up is Jeanine. Jeanine has always been a solid dancer but she really came into her own when her partners could match her skill (no offense to Phillip). Her solo last night was an unexpected surprise and she was technically phenomenal. Jeanine's personality gives her a bit of an edge but again you have to wonder if the gushing of the judges may hurt.

Then we have Kayla (aka White Lightning, really?). Kayla has been a favorite since she began (great story, single mom, grandparents took her to dance classes etc). She has had great performances and she has had mediocre performances (think Broadway with Kupono). Last night I thought she was good (not great). I was not a fan of her solo and I felt that in the two girl number Jeanine looked better. Kayla could win if the public took offense to the judges constant reminder that both Brandon and Jeanine are the front runners.

And last but not least (OK maybe least) welcome to Evan world. He is cute. I will give you that. He has personality galore and when dancing in his style he is fun to watch. But once again I have to say that watching him do any other style is just not believable, Evan can not be a thug nor can he be sexy. Hell I even had a hard time seeing him as a football star. Evan will win if the American public feels justified voting for him because the judges were too harsh last night. Making this show more about personality than dancing. Now I respectfully disagree but I only voted twice last night.

So who do you think will take the prize? Which dances would you like to see again from the season? Am I wrong to be so harsh about Evan? Looking forward to tonight. Let me know what you think.

The Bachelorette - Final Thoughts

Just so everyone knows...I was never a huge Ed fan. I was a Michael fan and was devastated when he was sent home. Once Michael left I was pulling for Reid (I like the goofy, funny guys). I truly thought that after Ed was "unable to perform" (which by the way how embarrassing on national television) Jillian would come to her senses and finally get rid of him. But once again this season I gave Jillian too much credit because she kept Ed around and ended up choosing him in the end (at this point I would have gone with the Kipper). Do I think that the two will be "happily ever after"? Who knows, stranger things have happened. I started out liking Jillian and toward the end I found myself no longer caring what she did. I think it was a combination of Wes staying longer than anyone thought he would, and the fact that any nice non-cheesy guy was given the shaft. Once again with a reality couple, only time will tell. This was posted recently on People.com Jillian Harris: I Am Not Worried About Claims of Infidelity.

Does this make you wonder about the new couple?

Are Old Friends the Best Friends?

The past three weeks I spent time in North Carolina (all over the place) visiting family and old friends. I then spent an adult weekend in Bald Head Island with my group of girls that I have known for over 30 years (Wow I am getting old) and their husbands. I have to say that I loved every minute of it. These girls that I have known forever plus all of my other friends from my hometown know everything about me. All my weirdness, my idiosyncrasies, my mouth (definitely my mouth) have gotten me in trouble in the past but every person that I made the effort to visit with is someone that loves me in spite of my flaws.

This got me to thinking about my new group of friends and how I feel with them in comparison to the old. This is what I decided...

1. Old friends know everything about you. Good or bad there are no secrets and there is no reinventing yourself (ever!!!). New friends means a fresh start. You can be who you want and have an added air of mystery (OK I am not very mysterious but still).

2. New friends still leave you questioning where you stand at times. Old friends you always know where you stand and where you fall in the pecking order.

3. Old friends are going to be loyal to you just because of your history. New friends means that you have to build up to this loyalty. As with anything, a loyal friend takes time to build. This can never be an instantaneous thing.

4. Old friends husbands are a must like for your own husband because you will never give up that friendship. New friends husbands can make or break a new friendship because most of the time couples meet both at once.

5. New friends give you the opportunity to branch out and try new things, meet new people and go new places. Old friends have a tendency to do many of the familiar activities because they are familiar. With new friends, places and activities are new and exciting.

With all of this said, I think that my conclusion is that you never give up the old friends but continue to make new friends. Every friend can make you laugh or cry. Whether old or new these emotions cover the entire gamut of your friendships. Sorry I am in a contemplative mood today. I will be more lighthearted later.

So You Think You Can Dance - The Final Four

I have now watched all back episodes of So You Think You Can Dance and I have to just tell everyone that I am a little shocked! The final four is not at all what I had anticipated. How is it possible that Evan is in the finals and Ade is not? I knew that from the beginning Evan was a fan favorite but for someone of his limited dance ability I just do not see how he can compete with the other three finalists. If the winner is not Jeanine or Brandon I will protest (OK not too loudly since I love the show so much). How fun was it to see some of the most memorable dances from last season though? Also which dances will be the ones that are memorable this season? Wednesday and Thursday night will be fun! Can't wait!

I have returned....

I am back from my three week trek of North Carolina. I arrived home on Saturday and have frantically tried to play catch up (on the mail, television etc). I have not watched all my shows yet but I will have a few comments about The Bachelorette and So You Think You Can Dance later today or in the AM tomorrow. I also need to watch the beginning episodes of Design Star and read the Dustman's recaps (aka David Dust). I am glad to be back but bear with me for the next few days as I try to get my bearings a little. Hello everyone!!!!!

The Bachelorette - real quick

Although I am still on vacation I wanted to just say a couple of things about the "men tell all" special tonight on the Bachelorette.

1. Wes is not only a douchebag but he is a p word as well. If he is going to act the way he did on national television he needs to show up and take his lumps like the rest of the bachelors.

2. Jake just needs to shut up. Stop talking about how hurt you are and move on. I feel as if he is too contrived for words and I hope that he is not picked to be the next bachelor.

3. David is still an ass and will never actually grow up. The man code thing is lame and stupid. Grow up frat boy and act like a real man.

4. I wish that the show had spent more time with Michael. He was one of my favorites and I love his sincerity.

5. You may think Tanner P is weird but you have to admit that there is no one like him.

6. I knew that we had not seen the last of Reid. I still don't know who she picks (if anyone) but at least he attempts to get a fair shot.

7. I was never a Juan fan but just leave the guy alone. Focus on your own shit and let him be who he wants to be.

What did you think about tonight's episode? Were the guys too practiced or genuine? Did anyone stand out as a real great one that got away? OK back to vacation for me.

Harry Potter begins and I am missing it.....

The new movie starts today, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. For those of you who know me, I am addicted to the Potter series. I have read and reread the books and actually cried when I finished the final book in the series. I am normally at the theater on the day the movies open because I want no part of the critique until I have something to add. Apparently I screwed up in my planning of my summer trip because today is the day the new movie opens and I am in the car travelling from Florida to North Carolina. Meaning no movie for me today. So who saw it? Good? Bad? Making you drool for the next one? I have to know. I will see it (by myself) this weekend.

I'm Out - For Three Weeks

I am out for three weeks as I travel to North Carolina to see friends and family. I hope that ya'll don't forget about me while I am gone. I will be checking in sporadically but I am not planning on blogging (unless something major happens). Have a great July and I look forward to getting back in the groove, come August. Later taters.

The Bachelorette - In Brief (Literally)

I have a lot to do so I must make this short and sweet (just like Ed's shorts last night). Jillian went on three dates last night in Hawaii. Kiptyn was nice (read boring), Reid was tongue-tied, and Ed could not get it up; in a nutshell. All three men went back to the fantasy suite this time and Ed was a little too stressed. Thought this was a deal breaker, think again. Ed was able to tell Jillian that he loved her while Reid could not articulate what he wanted for dinner. Soooooo Reid went home and Mr. Green Shorts cannot perform Ed stuck around (I liked Reid).

We are coming up on the "men tell all" special, which is my favorite episode of the season. I cannot wait to see what Wes says about the editing of the show. He actually came out and said "don't believe everything you see on TV" (see article here). I love it when reality people deny every saying anything on the show. You have to say it to be recorded.

What did you think of last night's episode? Did Jillian make the right choice? Will Ed be able to perform? Stay tuned!

Not to be a tight ass but....

AOL listed today the top 10 toys just flying off the shelves right now. Number 10 is ...Tattoo Barbie. Yes that is right peopleTotally Stylin Tattoos Barbie: She comes with 40 no-mess tattoo designs that you can put on her clothes, body and even on you, too.

Just what message are we sending our children with this one?

Is Entourage Still Entourage?

Did anyone else watch the season premiere of Entourage on HBO last night? For someone (me) who has been watching this show since the first season; the entire thing left me a little flat. Entourage is at its best when the boys are hanging out and Ari is yelling at them about something. I know that we are supposed to embrace the fact that everyone is getting older and maturing (except Turtle who pees in the bathtub...gross) but this show is not this show without some quality guy time. I need for Vince to become popular again (which is happening) and the boys to get rid of the girlfriends and return to the roots of being obnoxious tools trolling for sex. Is that too much to ask? On another note; I understand that Lloyd wants to get a promotion and not be Ari's assistant anymore but what would we do without Lloyd? Last night, his storyline was the most fun of the episode. Of course I will keep watching and continue to try to get behind the new mature Entourage but as I get older I am not sure that I want the boys to. What is the fun in that?

SYTYCD - Shocking Results

Such a busy weekend but I wanted to weigh in about the early (or not depending on how you look at it) demise of Philip on SYTYCD. Once again I did not take into account America's favorites (Evan and Randi) when placing dancers in the bottom three and was stunned when Melissa and Ade and Philip and Jeanine were picked to "dance for their life". I know that I have been a huge Philip non-fan these past few weeks but I still feel as if he danced the jive with a little life last week. Anyway, the solos were solos (Ade was phenomenal) and Caitlyn (no surprise there) and Philip were booted right before making it into the top 10 and the tour. But wait, we knew Nigel picked favorites and as Philip was undoubtedly one of Nigel's favorites the top 10 tour this year will be the Top 12 tour with Philip and Caitlyn participating. So now we are in the Top 10 and the dancers get to "switch it up" with new partners every week. I can't wait to see how everyone responds to this new level of competition. So long Philip. In a see of contemporary dancers; you will be missed.

SYTYCD - 2 for the Price of 1

What could be better than SYTYCD on Wednesday night? SYTYCD on Wednesday night with each couple doing 2 dances. I love it when we get to the point that the couples have to learn two different styles of dance in a weeks time to perform for the masses. This is what separates the men from the boys; so to speak. Anyway last night was an interesting night for dancing. Some were great, some were good, some were weird and some are going home. Here are my top dancers (and keep in mind that last week I totally missed the mark):

1. Janette and Brandon can do no wrong, I know that everyone is tired of hearing about it but this couple (read couple not just Brandon) is phenomenal. Last night the dynamic duo took on an Argentine tango and a Wade Robson "jazz" number. Both were worthy of standing ovations (which they received at least for the tango) and Janette's footwork alone in the tango was enough to silence all of their naysayers. I actually smiled throughout both of their performances because they were so awesome.

2. Melissa and Ade attempted a disco number and a waltz for their two performances last night. I keep these two in my top three because the disco number was fun and well danced (minus the fall at the end) and I enjoyed the waltz (Melissa was beautiful) but also because I love this couple. The two have been so quietly unassuming the entire season while hitting it out of the park almost every time. Last night was not their best but both should make it into the top 10.

3. This one is hard for me because many of the couples danced one dance well and then totally faltered on the second. Surprisingly I am going with Jeanine and Philip. Bless their hearts they had to dance a Russian folk dance (?) and then come back and do a jive. You talk about two ends of a spectrum. The folk dance was just that but they seemed to dance it well (enough) but the jive was entertaining and for once I saw Philip do something other than his style very well. Plus Jeanine is completely and totally ignored for how great she really is. She pulled herself and Philip through those dances last night and did it with class!

Now my bottom three is a little easier (maybe because there are only three left (hee hee).

1. Jason and Caitlin don't deserve to go home tonight. Both of their dances; the foxtrot and a jazz routine were decent. And they are a beautiful couple. And so on. But for once I agree with Nigel, I just don't feel the chemistry. They have very little pizazz which is so disappointing.

2. Randi and Evan are a couple that I liked from the start. I am starting to really see Evan's limitations as a dancer. He is cute and fun but that is about the only character he can play. The hip-hop number was weak with no a-ha moments and the samba was just cringe worthy. These two are destined to be cute and anything that strays from that is out of their range.

3. Kayla and Kupono are still an awesome couple and while I enjoyed the addiction dance by Mia Michaels last night; the Broadway routine was not good. Kayla seems to out dance Kupono at every turn and I just feel that he is the weakest male dancer.

So what did you think about the show. Good, bad, awful? Do you agree with my best and worst? Who hated the filler when each couple was saying how much they will miss their partner? They are not dying people! Anyway tell me what you think and I can't wait to see the top 10 tonight. Later.

SYTYCD Tonight

As my daughter would say, "I am so looking forward to watching the show tonight". I understand that Mia and Wade are choreographing numbers tonight so we are in for a weird ride. Happy Wednesday everyone!

The Bachelorette - How dumb do you have to be?

If you watch the show (or read any entertainment news) you already have heard the Wes has returned to Austin without the heart of our fair bachelorette, Jillian. Now Wes did not go quietly into the night but we will get to that later. And just so you know Mexicans and Spanish people are one and the same (according to Wes).

Last night we began the night with Kiptyn as the first date in Spain. Jillian is weird around Kiptyn and he is a little strange around her. The fact that she is constantly wondering if she is good enough for him bothers me but Kipper does not seem to notice. The date was fine, although Jillian made some inappropriate comments about his package and the way the tight black flamenco pants fit. At dinner the envelope arrived for the "fantasy suite" and Jillian opted out of an overnight with Kip. She did have him come back and look at the suite and teased him a little before sending him back to his room.

Next up is Reid who cannot, in any way shape or form, articulate his feelings at all. When asked why he thought he and Jillian would be a good couple, I thought that he would stutter over his words before mumbling something about a physical attraction. The date started with shopping and led to dinner. Reid was also dissed on the "fantasy suite" front which was shocking to me because I thought that he was the one that would have had "trouble getting physical (aka erectile dysfunction).

On to Ed and the constant reminder that he was not around for the hometown dates. Get over it already, he came back! Ed was the only one of the four that was allowed to spend the night in the "fantasy suite" but they had to "sleep with their clothes on". So far it looks as if Ed has this one in the bag.

Finally we save the Wes for last (God I crack myself up). Wes apparently is huge in Chihuahua, Mexico because of his second album(?) and so he can relate very well to the people in Spain (two different continents man!). I honestly think that at this point Wes no longer cares. He wants to get kicked off and he is just biding his time. He has too many "slips" at dinner (my manager said it would be good for my career, my girlfriend no my ex-girlfriend) for me to think that he is still trying to stick around. When Jillian puts him in the cab for the first time I am sure that this is the guy who is going home.

At the rose ceremony Wes makes a few cracks about going home to have sex and then Jillian arrives (who picks out her clothes). As expected Wes is booted and when she says goodbye I was left with a feeling of relief and disgust. Wes then made an ass of himself in the cab going on about being the only guy ever with a girlfriend to make it to the top 4 and some tour he is going on. I stopped listening after a bit because it was just too sad. This man has shot himself in the foot. No woman that watches this show is going to ever buy a CD that comes from Wes. I do wonder what he was thinking by being such a shit (it would have behooved him to be the nice guy for his career). And never (ever) blame everything on editing when at some point the words had to come out of your mouth. I look forward to the reunion special in a few weeks, just to hear his excuses.

Enough about Wes, the final three are Reid, Ed and Kiptyn and everyone is heading to Hawaii. My gut is saying Ed at this point but who knows what will happen next week. Later all.

14 Movies to See Before You Die...

Yesterday on EW.com there was an article about Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's 14 movies to see before you die (see their list here). It got me to thinking about the movies that I would suggest that everyone needs to see before they die. Now don't pick on me since I like mostly feel good movies but here is my list.

1. It's a Wonderful Life
2. Hoosiers
3. When Harry Met Sally...
4. The American President
5. Shawshank Redemption
6. Titanic
7. Pollyanna
8. The Sound of Music
9. Saving Private Ryan
10. Die Hard
11. Sixteen Candles
12. Say Anything
13. Rudy
14. Bull Durham

Now this is my quick list and I am sure that I have left a few out. What are your top 14?
