I am feeling better (thank goodness). The house is still a wreck (this is what I get for serving fried chicken, corn on the cob and brownies). The floors are trashed but this will all get fixed tomorrow (my favorite phrase by the way). But while I procrastinate I figured I would discuss my adolescent addiction to the embarrassingly cheesy Twilight series (and explain why I had to see the latest movie on the opening night).
For everyone out there who is a literary critic and hate everything about Twilight; I get it. The books are simplistic, predictable and complete fluff. And do not get me started on those that compare Twilight to Harry Potter (as most of you know I am a huge fan of J.K. Rowling and think that Harry Potter books are synonymous with the Bible, there is no comparison). But (always a but), there is something so simple about the Twilight books and the ease with which you read them that it is difficult to put them down. Plus the movies have pretty boys in them. And OK they cannot act (not really) but (again a but) they are cute to look at and fun to fantasize about.
Don't judge! Lately we have all had very few things to really smile about. If a book (or movie) can transport you for a few hours and not make you think too much, I see no problem with it. Now the obsession is a bit much (I will not remind you that I do have a Team Jacob shirt) especially for the younger girls but hell its all in good fun.
The movie, Eclipse, was the best of the bunch so far. I am not sure that the leads have become better actors but the computer generated (because of the werewolves) fight scenes were well done and fun to watch. I also believe that the "powers that be" do not want to screw with the formula too much because the scripts are staying pretty true to the books. It was fun, it was fluff and there were cute boys. Its summer, that's about all I need.

Eclipse - Tonight!
I have tickets to the 7:00 showing of Eclipse tonight. For those of you that live under a rock Eclipse is the 3rd movie in the Twilight saga. Obviously it will be a Girl Fest as it was last time we ventured to one of these movies. I am going to try to steer clear of any reviews or mentions of the movie today. It will be hard since I actually know women (read women not girls) that went last night at 12:01am. I just do not want anyone to ruin it for me. Team Jacob all the way and I will let you know tomorrow what I thought of the movie. Now have a great day as I try to refrain from hanging on the computer all day.

Twilight - New Moon Trailer
I understand that the trailer for the new Twilight movie, New Moon, aired last night during the MTV Movie Awards (which I missed and apparently missed all kinds of shit going down). Now I could pick it apart and let everyone know how much it will be changed from the book (but I won't). It did not look too bad...and my, my does that young boy (turned werewolf) Jacob (played by Taylor Lautner) look hot. He has definitely been working out. The movie comes out in November. What else will we get to see? Check out the trailer here and check out Taylor below.
Did anyone else see the Trailer? What did you think?

Twilight - The Book vs The Movie
I am almost finished with Twilight, the first book in the Stephanie Meyer series, which I started on Tuesday (post here). I cannot put it down. I am just enthralled by her writing and though the story is unrealistic (its fiction people) something about it just rings believable.

The movie starts today and I have been searching cyber space for the reviews of the movie. How true does it stay to the books? How was the beautiful Robert Pattinson? How did they manage some of the effects that I can picture in my head but not in real life? The review on Entertainment Weekly (here) was not bad but some of the comments were harsh (when people love a book they get very pissed if the movie strays from the story at all).
So my question is, for someone new to the books, do I go to see the movie? Or will it ruin the rest of the series for me? I guess what I want to know is, is the movie worth it (time and money)?

Twilight - Peer Pressure?
I usually like to pick my own books to read. I go through stages where I read biographies, mysteries, chick lit etc. I know that everyone is shocked but I actually read every day. Anyway, I have a friend who is obsessed with the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer and she suggested I read it. I resisted only because the books (and the movie Friday) are everywhere. I figured that I would get to them eventually but I did not want to jump on the bandwagon. Well as of today I jumped on the bandwagon. I just started the first book (and I will let you know if I like it). Obviously I will not line up to see the movie as I am a huge proponent of seeing the movie only after you have finished the book. Has anyone else read the books? Good, bad, indifferent? I only ask because the last time I resisted a phenomenon was Harry Potter and once I jumped on that bandwagon I could not jump off. I still re-read all of those books and am still mad about the movie not coming out this month as planned. For those of you who are fans of both, please note that the boy (very cute but boy nonetheless) playing the lead in Twilight is none other than Robert Pattinson who played Cedric Diggory in the 4th Harry Potter movie. Interesting coincidence.
