I tried, I really really tried....
Last night was the premiere of America's Next Top Model (ANTM) all-stars. Now I used to watch ANTM all the time but I got to the point that I could no longer stomach Tyra Banks. She is a self-promoting, egotistical, smizing pain in the ass. But...last night was the premiere of the All-Star edition, bringing back some favorites from seasons past (including seasons that I watched). And I tried. I tried to watch. I tried to get excited about these girls who each and every one has "representation" now (then why are they back on the show). But alas I failed. I could not listen to Tyra's voice. i could not get excited about the fact that Nigel now has hair. i could not even listen to the J's and their banter. I came to the conclusion that I have grown out of ANTM. I think that the dream is over people and I have moved on. I might try to catch it every once in awhile but I think I am done. Goodbye Tyra!

Is everyone doing All-stars? ANTM announces 14 flashbacks
The women of the all-star cast include: Shannon Stewart (Cycle 1), Camille McDonald (Cycle 2), Brittany Brower (Cycle 4), Lisa D’Amato (Cycle 5), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Bianca Golden (Cycle 9), Dominique Reighard (Cycle 10), Isis King (Cycle 11), Sheena Sakai (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13), Angelea Preston (Cycle 14), Kayla Ferrel (Cycle 15) and Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16).
Now some of these I don't remember and of course some I do. I had sworn off ANTM because I could no longer stomach Tyra Banks but this might me interesting. Sheena against Camille; Bianca against Dominique; and Lisa just being Lisa. I might watch at least the first episode.
Anyone you remember?

Really Tyra - But she is smizing...
So Tyra hopped out of bed this morning and thought that (a) this outfit would be perfect for the Teen Choice Awards (that's right teen) and (b) I really, really want to be Catwoman at some point in my life. Does anyone think that this was a good idea?
Seriously does she not get enough attention?

America's Next Top Model - Melee in NY
I think that I told you that I was watching America's Next Top Model and had planned on doing recaps but...after watching the first few episodes I could not bring myself to do it. From the screeches of the girls whenever Tyra (or the J's for that matter) walks in the room, to the fake Mission: Impossible reference on makeover day, to the complete overuse of the word "fierce"; I have had enough. I fast forward more than I actually watch and any word that I would use to discuss Tyra just seems inappropriate.
Imagine my surprise (this is in my sarcastic voice) when I discovered yesterday that ANTM caused a Melee in New York at a casting call. I checked to see if anyone was hurt and then could not stop laughing. Read the full story here on People.com.
I will say my piece and be done...a melee for a show that has succeeded in launching ZERO careers is absolutely fantastic! The diva herself, Miss Banks, wants everyone to believe that she is all-knowing about the fashion world when all I can see is a has been (who can "smile with her eyes"). She attempts to promote positive body images while in reality she enjoys promoting herself. I just don't understand what all the fuss is about!

The Model Shows Are Back
Two model shows are back tonight with a vengeance (OK I don't know if vengeance is the right word but they are back).
Tyra returns to the CW at 8 with America's Next Top Model. Last season I finally got my fill of Ms. Banks and I don't know how much I will watch this season but...it is always hard to resist.
Also starting tonight on Bravo at 10, Make Me a Supermodel is back for the second season, with Tyson Beckford as its host.
I will check out both shows (when I get a chance) and see which one I will actually pay attention to and get emotionally involved in (and then let you know).

America's Next Top Model - I am Done!!
I have tried and tried to continue watching this show. ANTM has been one of my favorites for many years and has become a staple on my Tivo list but (always a but) this year I think that I have hit my "brick wall" with the antics of Tyra Banks. I cannot (and will not) watch her in real time anymore. I have to be able to fast forward through her "fierce" speeches and her "smiling with her eyes" references. Last night as I attempted (one final time) to watch the show I realized that I was fast forwarding more than I was actually watching the episode.
No longer does Tyra seem inspiring or down to Earth. She is loud, obnoxious and over the top (not in a good way). The J's are no longer amusing and fun. And Nigel Barker has just become boring! The only judge that I still enjoy is Paulina and she has so little air time that her bits are few and far between. Plus every contestant looks and acts like someone we have already seen before. Keep in mind that most of these girls have grown up watching this show. I admire the reality shows that keep it new and interesting (The Amazing Race) after many seasons. ANTM is just not one of them.

I promise that I do not hate on all shows right now but I had to get my little rant off of my chest and move on.

Don't Talk Back to Tyra...ever!

Again the last few days have gotten away from me and I have been meaning to discuss the most recent America's Next Top Model episode. Nikeysha was the unlucky model eliminated this past week and I have only one thing to say; When are you girls going to learn that you never talk back to Tyra? Last week Nikeysha was reprimanded for interrupting the judges and she did it again this week. We all knew she was going home. Plus she was in the bottom with Isis (the man/woman) and you all know that Tyra is going to keep him/her around for a few weeks just because of ratings. So long to Nikeysha.
A few other things that happened this week. Bless Hannah's heart. This girl is from a small town in Alaska and she has been thrown in to a house with lesbians, bisexuals, a transgender and more ethnicity that she has probably seen in her life. Then these girls accuse her of being a racist. I am going to say no to the racism and yes to the ignorance (knows no different) slash gotta get used to the new surroundings. Go easy on this girl, she is from Alaska. Also, I like Sheena but she is definitely hoochie (my God what she could do in posing class) and she lied. The judges asked her point blank if her boobs were real and she said yes. Come on we know better. She sort of redeemed herself by admitting the truth but not a good week fro her all around. Tone down the hoochie Sheena you are a pretty girl.
This week is makeovers (my favorite). Looking for some models to emerge.

Tyra Banks a Diva; Are We Surprised?

According to the NY Post, Tyra Banks kept her studio audience waiting over two hours today while she chatted with her model guests. When she was finally ready to come onstage she did not utter one word of apology to the audience and proceeded to start the show.
Now lets be honest; is anyone actually surprised that Tyra is a Diva? I am a fan of America's Next Top Model and I still cannot stand Ms. Banks. One of the reasons that I love Tivo so much is that I can fast forward through her constant self appreciative moments when she preaches to the girls about body image, the environment and her days as a model. I love the cattiness of the models, and the challenges that they must attempt on the show; however the minute the judging begins I tune out knowing that once again Tyra is going to attempt the "smile with her eyes" or the hunched over position that we see in her one high fashion pose.
The new cycle of America's Next Top Model starts on September 3 and I will be watching. I did stop watching the talk show last year. It is hard to fast forward the parts of the show that Tyra is in when it is actually her talk show. At that point I am just watching commercials. That just defeats the purpose of Tivo altogether.
