Get a Job!
I know that this is lame but I will admit it and move on. I enjoy watching the Real World/Road Rules challenges on MTV! I think that it is funny to see these MTV stars try to win $100,000 by doing absolutely ridiculous things. Now I know that I am a fan of The Amazing Race but there is no comparison. The Amazing Racers get to travel the world. Amazing Racers have a chance to win $1 million. And Amazing Racers have other jobs. The kids (OK half of them are not kids anymore) on the challenges on MTV are still trying to squeeze as much out of their fifteen minutes of fame as they can. There are still the gay men that hook up with women (?), the straight women that hook up with women (?), the one guy that likes to run naked through the house screaming, the slut who hooks up with anything that moves, and the guy (or guys) that like to get drunk and fight for the hell of it. If any of you were ever fans of The Real World, very little has changed over the years.
In this particular challenge that is airing on MTV right now (Wednesday nights) we have already had the slutty hook up, two guys sent home for fighting and enough girl on girl action to light up the gay porn sights. The Duel 2 is being filmed in New Zealand and supposedly this is beautiful country but we have seen very little of it. If that is not enough, the challenge last night was a Luge challenge (no ice) while wearing large bobble heads. Not exactly a thought provoking show but fun (or funny) to wind down to.
My only disappointing thing would be the fact that so many of the cast mates are still around. At some point, someone has to realize that they are too old to continue on these challenges and to step down and let the new kids take over. Now I no longer watch the actual shows (Real World) but I get to know the newbies on the challenges and they are fun (or funny) to watch. There is not a Mensa in the bunch but they like to have fun and they get the job (or the challenges) done. So for those of you that are my age (and that is too old to do this shit); move on. Realize that it is over and get a job. The young bucks have taken over and these are the ones that we need to get to know. I do not want to feel sad for you and the direction your life has taken anymore!
How Did I Get So Old?
My youngest turns 5 today and I am feeling very old (and a little sad). She is so excited about her birthday (and party) and here I am a little weepy because my baby is growing up. Crazy I know but hormones do not understand sense.
Saturday is the Pinkalicious Pool Party that she has been wanting all year. Our outside area will look like Pepto Bismal threw up on everything. I even have a pink dress and she has a new pink suit.
The things that we all do for our children. I just want to know where the time has gone?

The Biggest Loser - The Final Four
Once again Jillian is going to win The Biggest Loser. Once again Bob has no real horse in the race (Ron does not count). And once again the final four has someone (or a couple of someones) that annoy the hell out of me and that I don't want to win.
The basic rundown of last night was this: Everyone cried (A LOT!!!) while they viewed their transformations. Tara won the challenge (again). And the final two members of Bob's team fell below the yellow line. I know you are wondering how that took two hours and yes I wonder that as well.
Anyway, Filipe and Ron fell below the yellow line and there is no sane person that would have kept Filipe in the race (he was a huge threat) so Ron stayed and Filipe went home to reinvent his culture (of overweight people).
Now here is my issue...not only is Helen still around but so is the mighty Tara. Helen just annoys me. Ever since she sent her daughter home (to stay herself) I have disliked her and as I have discovered over the weeks, everything out of her mouth is a soundbite. She practices what will sound good in front of the camera and wants to make sure that she says the "inspiring" things that will get her noticed. "I never thought I could do it", I will never see that weight again", "I am forty-eight and still going strong" you get the picture. Nothing out of her mouth sounds sincere. As for Tara, I must give her props for all that she has done but enough already. Stop talking about getting your life back (OK and I call bullshit on the "I don't care about the money" speech last night). She has already won everything, does she have to win the finale too?
Next week I think that the final four is narrowed down to three (by the America public). Who will be in the finale is anyone's guess. I hope that it is Mike who wins it all (although I am still mad about the Kristin thing) but if you have to pick the lesser of all evils he would be my pick. By the way Ron's planning worked perfectly...until America votes. He has no control over that or does he?

Gossip Girl - Real or Fake
Real or fake? Was this not the theme of last night's show?
Is Gabriel real or fake? It looks like he is a big, fat fake but then he looked slightly upset about taking Rufus's life savings. And did you see the previews for next week? Does Poppy run off with all of the money? Not to be too much of a stickler but for those of you who do not know...people from North Carolina do not talk like Gabriel. Also, if your Daddy's business is tobacco in North Carolina you go in to your Daddy's business. No one branches out on their own.
Georgina born again! Real or fake? She almost had me talking about her new found understanding of life and her sins but the moment that Chuck mentioned Blair all of the sweetness was gone and she looked ready for revenge. I am ready for a little tussle I must admit but it looks as if she might be (gulp) helping everyone.
Blair and Nate's relationship? I am not sure about this one. Are they convenient or do they really love each other? Would Blair be better off with Chuck? Do I actually care? Sadly yes but only time will tell on this one. Especially if they actually move in together.
Just one brief "I call stupid" moment. The premise behind not trusting Gabriel was that he did not actually meet Serena at Butter (some club in New York) because it was closed the night they "supposedly" met. So what? So he did not meet her with Georgina. What does that have to do with anything? Just checking.
It is getting good and I am looking forward to the evil Georgina making her comeback (which will more than likely not happen but a girl can dream). Sadly I hate the fact that Rufus will lose all of his money (you know it is inevitable). XOXO

How I Met Your Mother - Jesus Says
Just a quick shout out to HIMYM last night. The beginning sequence in which Barney explained that men should wait three days to call a woman because of Jesus was absolutely hilarious. I literally had tears rolling down my cheeks when NPH (as Barney) described Jesus's death and resurrection and somehow tied this in to the three day rule. Once again this show took it there and won! Awesome! By the way the texting back and forth between Ted and Holly (really Barney and Marshall) was also very funny but the first scene was by far the best.

Georgina is Back - XOXO
I don't know how she will tie in to the storyline! I don't know what is going on with Poppy and Gabriel! But some how, some way Georgina will be involved. Watch tonight!
Why? How?
I read David Dust's blog this morning (as I do every morning) and he was complaining (bitching) about his weight (post here). It is funny because I had been mouthing the same words to myself when I weighed in this morning. How is it possible that I have gained back almost all of the weight that I lost in the last few months? And why does it seem so difficult to lose the weight but gaining it back is a breeze. I am frustrated with myself, my body, my age and hell even my husband at this point.

Best Football Movies...
I have been watching a little bit of the NFL draft today (yes I love football) and I started thinking about my favorite Football movies. Oh and before I list them...who is Matthew Stafford and is he worth $41 million? The Detroit Lions (bless their hearts) seem to think so. Time will tell. Back to my movies. Here are my picks for my top 5 favorite football movies.
So here is my list. Did I miss any good ones? Oh and I just rented The Express (based on the true story of Ernie Davis) and Invincible (another true story). I will let you know what I think.
- The Program - Starring James Caan as the coach. This movie was supposedly loosely based on Florida State's football program.
- Rudy - You know you chant for him to play at the end of the movie. You just can't help yourself.
- Friday Night Lights - Before it was a television show it was a movie (and before that a book) and I have read the book and seen the movie and the show. All are great without being the cookie cutter ending that you expect.
- Remember the Titans - I know it was little preachy and sappy but I still love the final game that the team played. I am a sucker for anything that is a true story.
- The Replacements - Yes it was a little dumb but I loved watching the ragtag group of replacement players beat the ones that get paid more money than God.

Quick Update
I am still wading through my shows after a week of no television (I know it is amazing that I went that long). Last night the husband and I watched the finale of Friday Night Lights. I have said this before and I will say this again (and again and again); this is the BEST show on television. I laugh, I cry, I get pissed off etc and that is just in the first ten minutes. I am very interested to see what happens next year when half of the cast goes off to college but the final moments when the coach was fired and it showed him checking out his new school were very promising. I hate that we have to wait for so long to watch the show (I don't get DirectTV so I cannot see it until next Spring) but I will be waiting with bated breath no matter what. I hope that the award show people recognize how truly great this show is and if you are not watching I beg you, get the DVDs and have a marathon. It is so worth it. Plus you get a little eye candy as a bonus...
Now I am off to the pool (its 85 degrees outside) with the children. Later all.

I Stand Corrected....
OK I know that I said that I did not like the first Twilight movie and would probably not go to the second one...well here is the picture of the "new" Wolf Pack for the second movie (vampires and werewolves oh my).
Yeah I am going to the movie when it opens.

Gossip Girl is back!!!!!!!!!
Last night's episode of Gossip Girl was back to being the show that I fell in love with...almost. There was one brief moment of the old Chuck (yeah!) only to be replaced by the Chuck with a conscience (boo) but otherwise the entire episode left me wanting more (and more and more). For a full recap check out EW.com (here). I just wanted some feedback about what happened at the end. Brief summery..Serena fell for Poppy's boyfriend in Spain (Gabriel I think). She rushed home thinking that she had married him (she didn't) and he followed her. Gabriel seemed really into Serena until the end when we saw him arrive back at Poppy's place. WTF? Who is this Gabriel and what is he doing to the fair Serena? Are he and Poppy just f***ing with her for laughs or is it more sinister than that? Now here is the big question...is Georgina involved? Any thoughts, ideas etc? We all know that Georgina is coming back this season (next week in fact), is this the reason?

I am Back!!!! Sort of
My family has gone, my house is my own again and I am exhausted! I have a few posts to catch up on and a few friends to touch base with (and I will) but I am back and glad to be in a normal routine again.

The Week of Visitors
My brother and his wife have been here since last Friday.
They left yesterday morning. Now my parents are coming tonight and will be here through Monday.
I think I may be a little tired. I have not been able to watch my shows, get on the computer, or really relax in a week.
Don't get me wrong, my brother and his wife were easy guests but you know how it is when other people are in your house. This is what I feel like right now.
Needless to say I am taking a break from the blog and will be back next week. Miss you all.

The Biggest Loser - Who has the power?
I think the funniest thing about Tuesday's show was the "Ron as the Godfather" montage. Ron was mad that the cousins voted to eliminate him and he let them know it. Other than that the show was a bit slow and the Temptation was from hell.
The Temptation was meant to give one person the power to vote off anyone; and that would be the only vote for the week. So after most of the contestants polished off thousands of calories (thousands) Laura ended up with the "Golden Ticket" and the power to decide who would go home after the weigh in. Bob and Jillian were mad about the calories consumed (very mad).
On to another challenge and another win by Tara (really this girl has to go home) and then the final weigh in. Helen (yuck) and Sione fell below the yellow line. Now we all knew what Laura was going to do. She tried to make you think that she might get rid of Helen but we knew she was sending Sione home. Even after his whining and bitching I would much rather Sione have stayed then Helen. Does anyone else think that every word out of her mouth is scripted. And lets not forget that she is the one that sent her daughter home in the beginning. But, of course, Helen stayed and Sione was sent packing (I thought he had a chance to win).
Next week is makeover week. Can't wait. What is it about a good makeover?

Fortune Cookie
Last night I ate Chinese (OK I know it is not on my diet) and my fortune read "you will be surrounded by many true friends". Now here is what went through my head ...on my deathbed?, how many? and who are they? I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I guess the biggest question is; what is the definition of a TRUE friend? I came up with a few things but feel free to add thoughts as needed..
- A true friend is someone you can call at all hours of the day (or night) and she/he will drop everything for you.
- A true friend knows everything about you (all you darkest secrets) and still loves you.
- A true friend loves your spouse (or significant other) because you love them and they are important to you.
- A true friend tells you if an outfit looks like shit on you...they will not let you walk out of the house looking crappy (which makes me wonder about the people on Jupiter Beach and if they have any true friends...but I digress).
- A true friend makes you feel better about yourself and makes you a better person!

I did not watch my shows last night...
I have not watched Gossip Girl yet because I was otherwise occupied last night (not doing that). I finally sat down and watched the Twilight movie. As I have posted before, I have read all the books and enjoyed them all. The movie was an entirely different story. The Twilight movie was...low budget and dumb. Maybe the book did not translate well or maybe the young actors were just that; young (inexperienced) actors. For whatever the reason, I was disappointed and mad about wasting two hours on the movie. Did anyone else see the movie? If so what did yo think? Am I being overly critical?
So The Carolina Tarheels Win
Michigan State did not show up to play and the Carolina Tarheels won the whole shebang (Dammit)! Here is hoping that football season gets here really quickly!
This is just sad...

NCAA Finals Tonight
I know that I am from North Carolina and am supposed to love all things North Carolina but I have to say...I hate UNC Chapel Hill. When you are from NC you either love the Tarheels or you hate them. I am on the hate end. Maybe it is because they always win (especially against my beloved Wolfpack), maybe its because they are so damn smug (as are most of the people that go there), or maybe, just maybe, its because all of the people out there who wear Chapel Hill shirts have never set foot on the campus (bandwagon fans people). Just so you know; every single redneck in an NC State hat went to NC State (I guarantee it). Tarheel basketball is the epitome of "the rich get richer"!
So tonight when the North Carolina Tarheels take on the Michigan State Spartans who will I be pulling for? Think Green Everyone! Think Green!
* One small disclaimer. Some of my closest friends went to Chapel Hill and I love them (even if they chose that school). Most of my sour attitude is purely related to athletics.

Hi Ho..Hi Ho...Its Back to Work I Go
Spring Break is over and its back to the grindstone (OK I know that I only work 3 days a week and it is with 2 year olds but still). The kids went back to school today and I am off to work. By the way it is 85 and sunny outside.

The Final ER
Did anyone else watch the finale of ER last night? I have been watching the show for 15 years and I cannot decide if I am happy with the way it went out or if I needed more closure. I liked the way that Rachel Green (Mark Green's daughter) returned as a medical school applicant. I also liked that the show ended as it began; with a big emergency. But (I always have a but)...what happens to the characters we love. Do they continue on in Chicago? Does Morris eventually run the hospital? Do Gates and Sam get together? What about Carter and his "wife"? By the way I do know that these are not real people but after 15 years you get a little attached. Its the end of an era that is for sure? What did you like or dislike?

The Biggest Loser - What a Waste!
I have not blogged about the Biggest Loser for two weeks; and as I sat down to discuss I realize that nothing really has happened. Sure Aubrey went home and that was sad (two weeks ago) . But this week was a total waste of time. Nicole (formerly of the Red team) came back and then was sent home again...literally.
This week the contestants who did not get a fair shake (basically did not get to come back to the Ranch at all) got to weigh in to see who got a second chance. After losing 87 (!) pounds at home Nicole rejoined the group. But it proved to be too much pressure and she gained weight for the week thus giving everyone an opportunity to send her right back home. Just a waste of a show I think.
Although I must quickly bitch about Tara the "former model" (who in the hell did she model for anyway?). The minute Nicole came on the Ranch, Tara made sure that she knew who was in fist place. Shut up already! She keeps talking about the target on her back but if she would just work out, lose weight and keep her mouth shut no one would care. I am sick of her winning and hope that she does not win the whole thing. Seriously her nose, voice and attitude (especially the attitude) drive my crazy.
Hopefully next week will actually be meaningful to the competition. Later taters!
