I am heading to my beloved North Carolina for the Holiday and just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of my blogger peeps. I am really going to try to be electronic free this Holiday so I will catch up with everyone after January 2nd or 3rd. I hope that all of you know how happy you make me with your comments and acknowledgements on a weekly basis. At the end of a long day, I love that ya'll can put a smile on my face. Thank you for that and here is looking toward a really great 2012! Love you all...

Damn Elf...
For those of you with kids, you know what an "elf on a shelf" is...for those of you without, be thankful. The premise of the "elf on the shelf" is that he watches the kids during the day and then reports back to Santa at night. But the damn elf cannot always make it to his shelf when he comes back from seeing Santa so every morning he is in a different spot in the house. So every night, Santa's little helpers (aka me) have to put the elf in new places for the kids to discover. The elf does not care if you forget or if you are hungover or if you remember at 3am and then fall back asleep, he must be moved. I gotta tell you, it is wearing me out and we still have another week of it.
I kind of want to wipe that smile right off Willie's face (oh that's the name of our elf).

Laughing about this....
This was the headline in the Charlotte, NC (my old homeplace) today...
Shoplifter takes $3K worth of bras at SouthPark Mall
and by the way the bras were fur. For some reason this just made me laugh. What does one do with over $3000 worth of bras. This is what I imagine they looked like.
Happy Monday everyone...

Favorite Line from Modern Family last night...
Modern Family is always good for quotables and last night's Christmas (ok December 16th) episode was no exception. My favorite line of the night was when Manny and Phil walked in with the groceries and Claire looked up and said..."oh here is Phil with the Butterball", Manny "I have a name Claire". Loved it. A close second was when Jay looked at Cam and said, "put a cork in it"...I know, I know you had to see it but still thanks for the laughs Modern Family. Oh and favorite moment...when Phil, who was still feeling the aftereffects of the taser" was helping Cam fix the tree from behind. Hilarious. What was your favorite line? Sad that the show is done for the year but at least they celebrated with a good one.

Did anyone watch Glee last night...
OK, I know that I have had some complaints this year about Glee. I felt that it had lost some of the joy. Well last night, I am not sure if it was the return trip to Sectionals or that Sam is back (thank goodness) or that it was a Jackson family spectactular (Man in the Mirror is one of my favorites) but last nights episode was so great. I loved it. I really, really loved it. I hope that this is the beginning of a return to the Glee of it all. What did you think? Did you like it as much as I did or did I just get lost in the Jackson extravaganza?

This is what I have been working on...
Someone at the preschool decided that it made perfect sense to hand paint t-shirts for all the kids in our classes for their Christmas presents. So for the last 3 days I have been trying to paint 12 t-shirts for my class. Not at all time consuming by the way (sarcasm sarcasm....) Here is what I came up with. Be gentle...
I am a little overwhelmed....
I don't know about the rest of you but I am feeling a little stressed out. This time of year does it to me every time. I am working on making lists and checking it twice but as most of you know we all have way too much going on. I am checking in so let me know how you are. I am going to be better about updating. I promise...

I have a new show...
Ok I know that I say this alot. You know me, I like to check out new things. But this is one that I am intrigued by and I wanted to share. Has anyone else seen "Once Upon a Time". It's very interesting. A show about all of our favorite fairy tale characters stuck in reality in a town called Storybrook, Maine and no one remembers who they are. Plus, there are no happy endings. The show moves between fantasy and reality (a lot) and it takes a bit to get used to the format but I like it. Plus it is written by the same peeps who wrote a little show called "Lost". Ok, admittedly I did not watch "Lost" but I heard about it and everyone else seemed to like it. Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think. The show is on Sunday night at 8:00 on ABC and you can catch up by watching OnDemand.

I missed you...
I know that it has been a week since I posted. Its the time of year my friends. I have family here for Thanksgiving and we had soccer parties last weekend. I know, I know excuses excuses but I miss my blog peeps a lot. I will be back this week but I wanted to tell everyone to have a wonderful Thanksgiving week and to get all of your Christmas shopping done (yeah right).

I think I have lost my Glee...
Ok I am really having a hard time with this. I have loved Glee from the beginning. I watch episodes and re-watch performances because I admire true talent (I think it is because I have none). With this said, this season has really disappointed me. I know that many of you will landblast me for this opinion but I am bored and just not interested.
Maybe the show has lost a little of the joy, maybe I hate the fact that the Glee club has split, maybe I think it is dumb that some kid from a reality show has a spot on the show but has no point to the storyline, maybe Santana has just gotten meaner and meaner with no sliver of decency, maybe Finn and Rachel are boring, maybe I miss Artie and Tina and Mercedes and all the other great characters that we never see anymore, and I could go on.
Is it just me? Is the show going through a natural progression and I am stuck in the first year? I don't know but I am not rushing to watch the show in real time anymore and that tells me something. Love to hear other thoughts on this. Happy Hump Day!

HIMYM - Heartbreaking....
If you have not watched I am sorry to post this so soon. I will not go into major detail but I do want to say, if Robin did not pick Barney after the LOOK than how will she ever choose him? NPH is so great and the episode was wonderful....but heartbreaking. Please say it ain't so...

Did anyone watch HIMYM last night?
I have not spoken about one of my favorite shows yet this season but last night's episode of How I Met Your Mother was too good for me to ignore. The episode was a flashback to how the gang dealt with Hurricane Irene along with Barney and the ducky tie mixed in. For those of you who watched a few of my favorite tidbits...for those of you who don't or didn't watch, you would not get it anyway.
Ted's pink rain boots and his "be prepared" boy scout attitude.
Marshall being killed by a bear.
Barney pretending to be Robin's dad using his best Star Wars voice.
Slap bet continues....
The fact that Marshall and Lily conceived their baby in Barney's bathroom.
and of course the end all...Barney and Robin hooking up at the end of the show.
Did I miss anything? What did you think? Are you a fan of Robin and Barney or do you hate them together? What will happen next week with the significant others. Stay tuned.

Did he or didn't he?
I assume that everyone has read about our baby-faced Bieber and his paternal problems. The story is that Justin Bieber has fathered a child with a not so attractive 20 year old named Mariah Yeater. All she wants is $10,000 a month in child support (this is the rumored amount) to make sure that her spawn is allowed to live in the lifestyle that he so deserves because he is the Bieber heir. Now the question is...did the Biebs do this? Could he have been stupid enough to have unprotected sex with an ugly woman and think that it would not come back to bite him in the ass? Absolutely people. 16 year old boys think with their appendage, no matter what the conquest looks like. Yep its stupid and yep he should know better but this could have happened. Does not mean that this girl is not a money-grubbing bitch but it could mean that he is that much of an idiot. Only time (and a DNA) test will tell.
Been a little out of it....
Sorry about disappearing for the week. I had a conference last week in Orlando and was gone for 2 days for that. I discovered a few things about myself. 1. I have the attention-span of a 2 year old. I cannot sit in classes all day and retain any information. 2. As far as pre-school teachers go, I don't look as bad as I thought. Some of these women do not take care of themselves and many of them could care less. Anyway, I am back and need to get back into the swing of everything. Hope everyone is doing well, been checking the blogs...

Project Runway Finale - Are you freaking kidding me?
With all that drama and all that crap about her collection, Anya wins. God this season has not been great. No disrespect to Anya because I love what she creates but I am amazed that she won. Should have been Viktor in my mind. But at least they picked this...
over this...
Thank goodness the sniveling bitch did not win (and by this I mean Mr. Spray Tan himself Josh M.). Yep, PR is still smarting from the Gretchen fiasco last season. They had to pick someone likable. Anyway, the season is done and I am looking forward to the all-stars. Later all.

Did anyone else see this?
Morgan Wilson, Top Chef Finalist, Indicted on Child Porn Charges...just read this article (see full article here) and I was a little shocked (grossed out, surprised) but then not. If you remember this guy from Top Chef Just Desserts, he was a bit of an asshole and a little strange. Not that I would have thought this....but he could easily pass for someone that could give you the heebie jeebies.
Maybe Bravo needs to be a little more careful with their vetting. Just sayin...

A Perfect Sunday...
It's sunny and cool (well cooler) in South Florida today. A nice breeze, with the windows open and football on the television. Just had fried chicken for lunch with sweet tea. Yeah, I am not sure that it gets much better. I am off to watch the one o'clock NFL games. Happy Sunday my friends.

Modern Family - What was your favorite line?
Last night on Modern Family, I laughed a lot. I think I really want to hang out with Drunk Claire. Plus, does everyone want to have dad like Phil? Just sayin... Anyway, best line of the night (according to me)
its a toss up between
Claire saying to Mitchell and Cam, disappointed that they had not planned a fabulous night for her, "if that was your gay card it would have just been revoked"
or... Phil as he high fived a collegiate who was shading his eyes from the sun (of which Haley pointed out) , "knew it when I did it"
Now I know for both you needed to see the scene with it to laugh, but laugh I did. Oh and Phil joining in with the cheerleaders and the Bull dog "frog" noise" both hilarious.
Any thoughts?

Monday is becoming my favorite night of Television
Mondays in general suck. However, Monday night television on the CW is becoming better and better. Gossip Girl is so fun this season and Hart of Dixie is thought free fluff. And I love them both. Last night on Hart of Dixie there was a heat wave in Bluebell, Alabama. So this is what we got to see for an hour....
Yeah it was fun all around...

Moody Moody...
I have been a little bit moody lately. Just a lot going on and I have not been in the best of moods. So if I have not commented on your posts or been a little out of touch, please note that you are not alone and I am reading just not posting. My comments sound snappy and not cute in my head these days. So here's to a good week ahead. Happy Monday my friends.

Modern Family last night
Last night's episode was not my favorite on Modern Family. But (large but) even when this show is having an "off" week, it is still the most hilarious 30 minutes of the week. There were a few lines and situations that stuck out last night and made me smile (a lot).
Gloria, "really Manny, you want me to learn you English."
Phil, "you're easy on the eyes when you put a little effort into it."
Cam running down the street in his pink shirt...just because.
Mitchell and his grass stains...
Luke, "Police! Aren't they too busy winning the war on drugs?"
Cam, "shotgun" Mitchell, "no, no weapons"
If you saw the show you would understand but the other thing I found funny was Alex, drugged out from medicine and Phil trying to keep her looking wide awake so Clair would not know. When he nonchalantly sat on her arm so she would not fall over, I lost it. Small moment but so funny. Anyway, did anyone else think the show was a little off last night? Was it still funny to you?

I could not resist...
Every year around this time, I become more of a redneck than normal. I don't know if it is because its football season or because I like country music in the fall. Whatever it is, I found this funny and I had to share. Happy week ahead my friends.

Leggings and such...
I think that I may have mentioned that my freshman year of college I lost 30 pounds. With this said, I then decided that I was going to wear clothes that left little to the imagination (see Listen to your mother #3). Lots of short, tight skirts and leggings (or stretch pants) with the shirts tucked in. So it was no surprise that my college roommate sent me this picture as a laugh. Just thought it was funny. Happy Saturday my friends.

How do you explain same-sex without the sex?
My 10 year old son and I were watching The Amazing Race the other night. One of the couples came up and under their names was the description, domestic partners. Of course my curious son then looked at me and asked, "hey mom what's a domestic partner?" and "does that mean they are gay?" This was it! One of those defining moments as a parent in which what you say and how you handle yourself would be remembered forever. I took a deep breath and.....
Real quick lets back up...as most of you know, I am a Republican. I consider myself a liberal Republican but I am, in fact, a Republican. There are 2 main things that I am extremely liberal in my thinking and one of them is gay rights. I grew up in a small southern town with a conservative father and a more liberal mother. My mom loved the theater and spent her summers performing in the local theater productions. This is where we spent our summers as well which, as you can imagine, gave us the opportunity to meet many different types of people. And for those of you conservative blowholes...no the gay people did not rub off on me and make me gay. Actually maybe they did rub off on me because I ( and my 3 siblings) was always very comfortable backstage at the theater and we grew up counting many of this group among our good family friends. After college I went to work at a large corporation (a Bank) in a department called Survivor Support (Death benefits). This is when I really realized where I stood on gay rights. I had been vocal about the need for a civil union for the gay community but I was still unsure about marriage (I am nothing if not traditional). But after handling death benefits for a number of domestic partners and realizing that there were couples that had been together for 15 years and still had no rights, I modified my thinking and realized that marriage was the only way to make sure that equal rights became a reality. OK so back to Sunday night...
I looked at my son at age 10 and realized that I was not ready to have a sex talk but I also realized that if at age 15 or 21 or 28 he came to me to tell me that he was gay, I wanted his memories of this conversation to be positive. So I explained, as best I could, that God makes everyone differently. Some people are black, some people are white, some men like women and some men like men. I further explained that there was nothing wrong or off about this but that he might hear negative words or opinions because people are always scared of anything that they do not understand. He seemed to accept this and then he said, "well it must suck if you like another man because then you cannot have children, oh wait you can adopt kids, right mom, because plenty of kids need good homes." and that was it. We continued to watch our show and he seemed content. Whew, one hard conversation down, only about 1000 or more to go.

Goodbye to the Playboy Club
I just got home and discovered that one of the new shows that I actually liked this season has already been cancelled. I know, I know The Playboy Club was not well liked by the critics (or anyone else for that matter) but I liked it. It was a fun, decadent, soap opera and I found the show enjoyable. But, after 3 episodes, NBC has axed the show (I hate it when networks do this) and I must find another show that sparks my interest. Goodbye to the bunnies and goodbye to Eddie Cibrian (the hottie).

Check it out...
I watched a new show on the CW last week and forgot to mention it. Hart of Dixie stars the adorable Rachel Bilson as Dr. Zoe Hart. She is a doctor from the big city who takes a job in Bluebell, Alabama. Think Doc Hollywood...Anyway, the show is cute and the supporting cast is cuter. From Scott Porter (FNL fame) to Cress Williams (from 90210 to FNL) and Jamie King (Pearl Harbor). I like the show and am back for a 2nd week. Look into it.

Who Do I Pull For Now On Project Runway?
I am actually sad about who went home last night on PR. After finally getting rid of Olivier last week I was hoping for at least a week of keeping designers I liked before I had to say goodbye. Plus, it took me forever this season to actually land on anyone that I liked. Anthony Ryan will be missed. Here are my observations from last night:
- I actually knew the minute that AR's designs walked out that he was going home. There was no recovery from this. Nice guys do not finish first when their outfits looked like that.
- I dislike Josh more each week and do not even find him annoyingly funny anymore.
- Viktor not sharing made me not like him for a brief moment. I know, I know this is a competition and its not about making friends but help a girl out with some fabric.
- Is anyone else liking Bert more and more or is it just me? Loved his top. I mean, that top, designer jeans and fun heels and yep I am going out.
- Laura is annoying and I hope that Nina kicks her ass.
- Tim crying made me cry a little. Never seen that happen before. Damn you producers of PR for getting rid of someone that everyone liked and for making Tim Gunn cry.

I hate to say it...
I have decided to give up on a show. I was going to say that it was my first show to give up on but I already dropped ANTM. This one hurts though. So without further ado and as much as I love Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ringer has been deleted from my Tivo schedule. After 3 episodes I just realized that I did not care what happened to this character (Bridget/Siobhan whatever the hell her name was) and it was not pressing for me to watch the show as soon as it aired. So I am freeing up some room on my Tivo and saying goodbye to Ringer. Let me know if you think I am wrong to do this.
Oh and I am thinking that Whitney and 2 Broke Girls are not far behind....

Listen to your Mother...#7
Find one drink that you really really like and stick with it...
I know this one seems a little weird but I was thinking about this at a party the other night. When you are drinking (alcohol), it is always good to know your limitations and if you have a favorite drink you will be able to keep up with these limitations. But don't go too crazy. This favorite drink has to be something that you can find at any party or wedding or bar. Don't go too far out of the box or you will be unable to find your drink, you will have to drink something different, then you will get drunk, sleep with a stranger and all hell will break loose. The moral of this is...find a drink and stick with it. Just drink responsibly!

This Made Me Laugh...
As the Halloween costume season approaches (oh we have been discussing it for a month, why oh why do I have a daughter who wants to be a Ninja?) I found this laughable.
More New Shows (and old ones too)
The rest of my week, I watched more televison and thought about what I will continue to watch and what will remain on my Tivo list...
Wednesday Night:
America's Next Top Model - I have already said that I can no longer watch this show. Tyra is just too much for me to deal with and most of the girls who have come back for "all-stars" really make you wonder why they are still around. I tried one last time to watch and yep, I am done.
Up All Night - I love Cristina Applegate and Will Arnett. I want to love this show and I am trying. There were some very funny moments but I am still unsure of the show as a whole. Will they run out of ideas? Will it get too stupid? Time will tell
Modern Family - Just Awesome! Both episodes were terrific and yes the Emmys got it right.
Thursday Night:
Charlie's Angels - I loved the original and so I had to watch. It was cute, I guess. I am not sure how long this one will last. I did not mind it but I am not sure that I will keep tuning in every week.
Whitney - I hated this. I felt like the entire show was one big stand up moment and that she (Whitney) delivered her lines in this vein. I was disappointed and was expecting much more.
I know, I know I did not watch the X-factor or any of the other highly touted new shows. I only have so much room on my Tivo people. I am planning on watching The Amazing Race and Pan Am tonight and Heart of Dixie on Monday Night, but my goodness I have watched a lot of shows this week. Not sure that my children still know my name. So here is the question, did I miss anything great? What did you think of the new shows? Is the new year promising? Let me know...

Which New Shows Are You Watching....
I know that we are only halfway through the first week of new shows but I wanted to find out what people were watching and what has spiked interest among the old and the new shows so far this season. Here is what I have watched and what I think (if you care)...
Monday Night:
How I Met Your Mother - Of course I watched both episodes and I am excited about the new season. Robin's back in love with Barney, Barney has a thing for Nora, Marshall and Lily are finally expecting and Ted glimpses Victoria (remember the cupcake girl from Season 1 or 2). I thought that the first two episodes were great and my husband is still walking around saying "Edward 40-hands". Can't wait...
Two and a Half Men - I had to watch. I have never watched before and I could not resist the hoopla. Without knowing any of the back story I must say, it was not half bad. I might watch again just to see how Ashton does. It was funny and they handled the death of Charlie really well.
2 Broke Girls - Sort of cute. I might check it out again. 2 girls working as waitresses both down on their luck. Not sure if it will stay on the list or not. There is something appealing about it.
The Playboy Club - OK, I know that this has been panned by the critics and I watched thinking I would hate it. Guess what, I didn't. I actually really liked it. Its a Soap Opera, no doubt but there is something fascinating about this lifestyle and time period and I really liked it. Plus Eddie Cibrian is hot as shit. Will watch again for sure.
Tuesday Night:
Glee - I am really, really hoping to get back to the greatness of Season 1 this year. The premiere was not as promising as I would have liked and there are too many other things to watch now if the Glee people don't get it together. It was not bad. I just got bored about halfway through and I do not like that feeling. Of course I will continue to watch but I am hoping to get back to the beginning.
Ringer - I watched the Pilot last week with Sarah Michelle Gellar and I liked it. It was intriguing and confusing all at the same time. I have not watched episode 2 yet but I think that the show will hold my attention. I am hoping for that anyway.
The New Girl - My favorite new show thus far. How cute is Zooey Deschanel? This show has the premise and promise to be great and judging by the pilot I am excited. I know that there will be some casting changes but the show seems like something special.
OK these are the ones I have watched. Have I missed anything? Oh and I did watch Up All Night last week but figured I would mention that one on Friday with my Wednesday and Friday posts. What did you think? Was I right about The Playboy Club or did you think it was cheesy? God I love the new television season. Wondering which show will be the first to get cancelled.

The Emmys - My 2 favorite moments
I just watched the Emmys from last night. Yes I am a rock star and attended another concert last night. We went to see Night Ranger, Foreigner, and Journey (without Steve Perry). It was fun but a definite throwback to the days of old but I digress. I tivoed the award show and I am going to be very, very brief. I was not crazy about the show. There were some good moments but overall it was fairly boring. I did have 2 moments that just made it worth watching...
The ladies of comedy pretending to be in a beauty pageant and "crowning" Melissa McCarthy the winner. The expressions on the faces of these women was priceless and I loved how well they all did this together.
And of course my top favorite moment last night was Kyle Chandler winning for Friday Night Lights. My favorite show ever finally received Emmy love and to give it to the Coach made my night. BTW, FNL also won a writing award which was a double shot of love for the show.
Did anyone else have a favorite moment last night? What did you think of the show? Was anyone else bored?

Project Runway...real quick...
I just finished watching last night's episode of Project Runway and I had just a few observations:
- I am not real sure how Joshua won last night and Viktor did not. Joshua's dress was cute (I guess) but it seemed so simplistic. Viktor had an entire LOOK!
- In this same vein, how was Bert chastised for being TOO simple when Joshua's dress seemed just as simple to me? Are the judges playing favorites again.
- I hated Anya's dress. I now, I know I have no style but that one sleeve thing drives me crazy. Olivier's top was better looking because he left it sleeveless (and I usually do not like him at all).
- It was painful having to watch Olivier interacting with other people.
- It was Bryce's time to go for sure.

Never (ever) break plans that you have already made because something "better" has come along.
Follow through is something that I admire and really respect. If you tell someone that you are going to do something then you need to do it. Everyone is worthy of your time and advance plans need to be respected. One of my biggest pet peeves is to say that you will do something and then you flake out. I do have one caveat to this statement...if you have plans with good friends and if you get offered backstage passes to the Brad Paisley concert, then plans can be postponed and/or cancelled. Good friends will understand as long as you are honest.

Goodbye to Entourage....
I have been meaning to do this all week and I am just getting around to it. Sunday night was the series finale of the HBO show Entourage. For those of you who don't know the show, this is HBO's version of a male Sex and the City but loosely based on Marky Mark's life. Now I have watched Entourage from the beginning. Good seasons, bad seasons and depressing seasons have all happened and the show has only been on for 7 or 8 Seasons. For this last year (or 8 episodes) the boys have all been getting their lives together and winding down (or up for a movie). Here are some things I liked (and hated) about the finale:
Now...stay tuned for the movie. Because there will be one. I have no doubt.
- Loved, loved, loved that Turtle is now a millionaire. We have watched Turtle try his best to get out of Vince's shadow and do his own thing for years, only to be shot down or pushed down every time. It was nice to see him actually end on a high note (even with a little help from Vince).
- Love that Drama has a career now and it has nothing to do with his face or who his brother is. Although Drama cashes in on Vince constantly, it has nice to see his resurgence careerwise.
- Hated that E and Sloan are pregnant. I know, I know the writers wanted them to end up together but (and this is a huge but) could you ever forgive your ex for sleeping with your step-mother? Yeah its not going to happen. Thought this was a little too neat and tidy.
- I actually appreciated the fact the Vince is getting married (to a girl he just met and one who rejected him). This just fits his personality and it is sooooo Hollywood. You know that they will be divorced in a few months but it still felt real in the world they all live in.
- I actually liked the fact that Scott stayed behind when everyone was leaving to go to Paris. He stated that it was a family affair and he was not part of the original family.
- As for Ari...I am on the fence. I am glad that he and the wife got back together but him quitting work was the only part that did not believe. Ari is his job! End of story. But it came back around at the end with the job offer that you just know he is going to accept.
Now...stay tuned for the movie. Because there will be one. I have no doubt.
I tried, I really really tried....
Last night was the premiere of America's Next Top Model (ANTM) all-stars. Now I used to watch ANTM all the time but I got to the point that I could no longer stomach Tyra Banks. She is a self-promoting, egotistical, smizing pain in the ass. But...last night was the premiere of the All-Star edition, bringing back some favorites from seasons past (including seasons that I watched). And I tried. I tried to watch. I tried to get excited about these girls who each and every one has "representation" now (then why are they back on the show). But alas I failed. I could not listen to Tyra's voice. i could not get excited about the fact that Nigel now has hair. i could not even listen to the J's and their banter. I came to the conclusion that I have grown out of ANTM. I think that the dream is over people and I have moved on. I might try to catch it every once in awhile but I think I am done. Goodbye Tyra!

Ringer and SMG - What did you think?
So I watched Sarah Michelle Gellar last night in her new show Ringer and I will say right now...it had promise. Now I am not saying it was perfect. And by no means did the show have the pizazz of Buffy (oh and when did SMG get in a tussle and yell help ever). But it was interesting and left me wanting to watch the next episode. The whole twin thing was interesting (if not a little confusing) and there are enough pretty people on the show to make it a real CW hit. So I will continue to watch and see what happens. Did anyone else watch? What did you think?
Oh and the boat scene was ridiculously fake but at least it did not last long.

Anyone going to check it out?
So tonight my first NEW show of the season begins. Buffy...I mean Sarah Michelle Gellar stars in a new show on the CW called Ringer. SMG plays twins (spoiled and rich I think) and the show is supposed to be full of suspense, melodrama and intrigue. I am wondering if they can add a little action too, just to see the kick-ass Buffy chops again. Anyway, I will let you know tomorrow what I think (if you care). The show starts at 9:00.

The Bachelor Pad Finale - Part 2
So the reunion special is on and for most of the "couples" the information has already leaked on who is together and who is not. Very few surprises...we already knew about Jackie and Ames, we already knew Vienna got her nose done (by the way awful hair and the nose job must have been done after this show), and and we knew that Vienna was a fake bitch, we knew that Kasey was a tool, so the point of the reunion...more fighting between Jake and Vienna (God 15 minutes yet?).
Although Kasey did apologize to Jake which begs the question is he still with Vienna or is he now realizing how bad she is. Oh wait...he is crying on television. Is this to make me like him now, because its not working. And Vienna just looks on with that bitch ass expression on her face not trying to comfort her "boyfriend". Apparently they are still together. I give it what...6 months maybe! Even Erica gives them her blessing (and why do we care)...is she not the one who said, "this is a mansion not a trailer park and Vienna needs to take Kasey and leave". Now that is how I feel about fame and the public eye for both of them.
OK so the Blake and Holly thing was taped for TV...yep their engagement was taped just for ABC. Are you kidding me? Leave the Bachelor Pad and get engaged on national television for everyone to see. Would have liked that better if they had kept it private. But they are moving to SC together and I give it...6 months! And then they tell Michael on the show, live. Shitty, shitty, shitty...poor Michael, someone please give him a hug now...please. I cannot believe that they told him on the show. He was so shocked and did not know what to say. I had to fast-forward it because it was too painful to watch. Michael you will get your girl eventually.
OK now this 2 hours has gone on long enough. Just tell me who won so I can go to bed please. 1 vote at a time....come on Chris Harrison. OK so it was Holly and Michael but now Chris Harrison puts them in the finals. I thought that was the finals. Now its down to Keep or Share the money. Of course Michael and Holly will Share the money...
And Michale and Holly will split the money. The end. Holly is engaged, Michael is sad but he has $125,000 to make it better. I am so glad its over yes you know I will watch again as much as I bitch about it and on to the new bachelor. and I am going to bed. Welcome to Ben F.

The Bachelor Pad Finale - Part 1
Have you ever looked at a group of people and felt that not one of them deserves to win? Yep that is how I feel about the finale of the Bachelor Pad. Although I would be less sad if anyone but Kasey and Vienna were to win. So the final four couples head to Vegas to perform a routine for Ciirque de Soleil...because this is what we all should be able to do to win $250,000. I felt as if Chris Harrison may have been smirking at the scared shitless couples...just saying. The winner (of whatever it is that they have to do) gets to go straight to the finals. The losers go home immediately.
Of course Kasey makes the statement that he and Vienna are going to win because they are the "best" couple in the house. Yep because being suspended 100 feet in the air and performing well is all about being the "best" couple.
Quick question...what do 3 former Bachelor/Bachelorette people know about performing in a Cirque De Soleil routine? How did they get to be judges? They did pick Holly and Michael to win the challenge so they go immediately to the finale so at least they got something right. Plus how fake was that kiss from Vienna and Kasey?
So sad that Kirk and Ella had to go home. Ella was devestated and blamed herself. I liked her and I wanted her to get some of the money. So yeah, I am pulling for Michael and Holly to win. Even if they are not a couple; even if Holly dissed Michael for Blake, even if Kasey really does have a sick grandmother (yeah right)...Holly and Michael are the only choice to win.
OK here is the kicker...Holly and Michael get to choose who is in the final with them. If they choose Vienna and Kasey then they will win (who would vote for Vienna/Kasey over Holly/Michael), if they choose Graham/Michelle then the decision is up in the air. And the decision is....Michelle and Graham. Holly and Michael are the bigger people and stuck to their word.
Suck it Kasey and Vienna!!!!!!
Who will win..stay tuned...

If you get an opportunity to travel...do it. You will never regret it and whatever thing (or person) that is holding you back will be there when you return!
After my junior year of college, I was able to backpack through Europe for almost 6 weeks. It was the trip of a lifetime. Myself and 3 of my girlfriends armed with Eurail passes and youth hostel numbers went to places we had only read about. Luckily I had no boyfriend at the time. I had broken up with my now husband (we were taking some time...we did this a lot) so I was completely free and able to have fun without missing anyone at home (OK I did miss him but it did not impede my good time). Never again in my life will I have this opportunity to take off for 6 weeks and just go. I am glad I did it and I want my children to have this same opportunity.

Where were you on September 11...
I was in my bed, feeding my 4 week old son and watching the Today show and/or Regis and Kelly. The newsbreak came on and as the smoke was coming out of the first tower, I saw the 2nd plane hit live. And all I could think was, please God let this be an accident! Watching the news coverage for the next few days was magnetic. I could not turn it off and I did not want to leave the house. I kept waiting for happy news. Finding people alive, it was all a big joke...something. As we all know that never happened. The world would never be the same for my son.
So guess what I did last night...
I was going to have a quiet night watching football on Saturday night. The Wolfpack (NC State) played at 3:30 (we lost by the way...sucked) and we were going to order pizza and drink beer. I got a phone call yesterday morning from a friend who had VIP all access ticket to see Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley and could I find a sitter. Yep I found a sitter! This was undoubtedly one of the coolest things I have ever done. I love country music (love it) so of course I had wanted to go to the concert anyway but the tickets were too much.
So I got dressed in my cowgirl clothes and headed to the concert. We got to go on stage! Yes that is correct people we got to go on stage with Brad Paisley at the end of the concert! We were backstage at a Brad Paisley concert!
Just had to let ya'll know what I did last night. Here are some pics if I can get them to upload from my phone. I know how cool you all think I am....

Poor Michael....
It looks like it really is over for Holly and Michael on The Bachelor Pad and beyond. A new story was posted today on people.com....
Bachelor Pad's Holly and Blake Are Engaged
I am not sure that Michael will recover from this and on another note...Miss Holly works fast!
So I guess that Blake did not hold a grudge after Holly voted him off.

Please (please) do what you love in life (and love what you do)
You never want to have a job that you look forward to Friday's every week and you dread Sundays. Of course we love the weekends and no job is going to make you leap out of bed every day excited to go to work (its called work for a reason) but please make sure that you at least have a passion for what you are doing and at the end of the day you feel as if you have accomplished something. I love what I do. Not every day (especially in September when the 2 year olds are getting used to school) but I really, really love it and I feel like I have accomplished something some days.

Recognize the outfit?
So this little girl wears this outfit tonight in a pageant on TLC's Toddlers and Tiaras:
does it look familiar....
The mom could not figure out what the problem was and why anyone would have an issue with it? Yeah I have no idea about that, I mean dressing up your 3 year old in a prostitute outfit seems perfectly normal to me. I have watched the show (it is a train wreck) but I think I am now done. Sorry to be Judgy McJudge but seriously.

Eddie Murphy hosting the Oscars??
I read this yesterday and I am still not sure what to think. OK backup...I adore Eddie Murphy as an actor. Coming to America is a classic movie (and you can deny you love it but you know you do). Eddie Murphy as a person I am a little unsure about. All the DIVA stories, the Melanie Brown incident (aka baby), how pissed he was when he lost the Oscar for Dreamgirls (admittedly he was great but I loved Alan Arkin as well). I am just not sure how (or who) he will be. Most of his stand-up has always been a little racy (RAW, Delirious) and of course I loved both but I am not sure that either is appropriate for the Oscars. Will he wear the green Gumby suit, or maybe the sweater from Mr. Robinson's neighborhood, or can we get the fast talking Axel Foley (how much did you love the first 2 Beverly Hills Cop movies?...third was bad I admit). Whatever the debate, one thing is for sure. The debate is happening, which means people will watch. I certainly will. I just hope he is gracious, funny and maybe more mature.

If you dress like a slut, frankly people are going to think that you are a slut!
This one I know from experience. I lost 30 pounds my freshman year of college (I know, I know I went backwards) and decided that to really celebrate I should show off my body, all the time. Let me tell you, the outfits I came up with were interesting to say the least. The skirts alone looked like headbands. And yeah, I had the body for it but believe me the reputation came along with it (and I may have embraced that as well for a period of time). So just remember that you are what you wear sometimes, whether you want to be or not.

The Bachelor Pad - Nearly Wed Game????
I finally watched this tonight. Busy week people! But after a wild (OK I am trying) round of the Nearly Wed Game (and one mention of whoopie by Chris Harrison) the couples had dates and Blake and Erica went home. And yes this took the entire 2 hours (OK I condensed it a little). So my favorite quotes from the night:
Kasey when responding to the fact that he and Vienna have not had a date yet "we need some romantic one on one time and have a little stress relieved" Horny much Kase?
Kasey to Vienna.."don't be crazy" (yep that train left a long time ago Kase)
Erica about Blake, "I am totally going to seduce him" (sorry threw up a bit in my mouth)
The look on Blake's face when Erica suggests staying in the fantasy suite...no words just a look, disgust, fear, revulsion etc...
Why in the world would Blake and Erica give the roses to Kasey and Vienna? Obviously it backfired but did they really think that anyone would not vote for them?
So yes, Kasey and Vienna are still in the house. If they win, I will never watch again (ok you know that is a lie by the way but please don't let them win). My new favorites are Ella and Kirk....

I need to vent real quick...
Comcast has the tendency to suck sometimes. As I am perusing the Internet I find that a Buffy marathon is on all day. Well after a busy weekend, what more could I want than to curl up for a Buffy marathon (hello one of my favorite shows ever). However the marathon is running on a channel called Chiller. Yeah for some reason Comcast does not carry this channel. Dammit dammit dammit. I get all excited about watching Buffy and then my hopes are smashed...Happy Labor Day

Saying Ma'am and Sir to people is never a bad thing...ever!
Respect is always good. And being respectful can never not help you to get ahead. I have heard that people do not like it when a child says yes ma'am or yes sir but I cannot imagine how this would be. My children say it constantly and I have never heard anything negative about it. Respect is key, always...

College Game Day!!!!
I am so excited! College football has returned and I now know what to do with my Saturdays. I am watching ESPN and feeling as if I have been reunited with an old friend. Love love love that it is that time of year again. Now my team ....NC State Wolfpack has a nonsense game today (we play Liberty) but my goodness the day is full of real games. The Ducks (Oregon) play LSU and I will be pulling for the Ducks (Froggy this one is for you...plus I am a fan) and Georgia plays Boise State. My southern self has to go with Georgia but we will say how the day plays out. The sun is shining, I should be outside but I am not and I don't know if I will be. Happy Game Day people!

Don't ever, ever allow yourselves to be swayed by people who say "if you do this for me, I will be your best friend".
I heard a little girl saying this the other day and it made me laugh and also cringe. Never, ever feel that you have to do anything to make someone like you. I would like to think that my kids have the confidence to say "screw you, I don't want to be your best friend anyway " (OK maybe they will have a little more class than that).

The Bachelor Pad...Michael Needs a Hug
Just a few observations from the stupidity that is The Bachelor Pad....
- Melissa is a crazy ass bitch. When she was raging through the house looking for Blake after he picked Holly to go on the date I thought she was going to hurt someone. She is the girl that stalks you (and I mean scary stalk not charming stalk). Think about that Blake and be afraid.
- Is it just me or is anyone else staring to like Ella. I like her redneck self and she seems fairly straightforward.
- Erica gives me the heebie jeebies with everything she does. From the kissing contest to the weird massage she gave Blake, it all just felt wrong.
- Poor Michael! Holly left to go on a date with Blake and Michael was devastated. When they showed him after he realized that she would be gone all night, it broke my heart. He told her he loved her and she turned him down (sort of)...bless his heart. She is still undecided and that sucks for Michael.
- It was so nice to have an episode that was not centered around Vienna and Kasey. Minus the stupid kissing contest we saw very little of them and it was nice. Oh and Kasey's story about his grandmother and why he needed the money. Not to be mean (OK I am being mean) but I bet anything there is no sick grandmother.
- Hate that William had to go. Was so wishing that Kasey was on the way out. And of course Melissa was out and she freaked! Blake's fault of course...

I have been thinking...
I know scary right? As the school year has begun, or almost for me, I have been thinking about my blog and the direction it is going. I know, I know, I do this every year when the school year and soccer season begins to loom in front of me. Anyway, no major changes. I will still watch my shows (and a few new ones that I am going to check out) but I am going to be doing more mom stuff again. I sometimes forget about the mom stuff and I need to be able to vent and talk as needed.
I have been reading this book (yes I do read a lot) and in it the main character writes bits of advice for her granddaughter (to be determined) as she muddles through dating life. I think I might trying writing down some of my advice for my children as well. I mean I have so much knowledge about how to screw things up that I should share this with someone.
Anyway, looking forward to the week ahead. I am so glad that everyone is doing well after Irene. My family in NC is a little beat up but fine. Wish me luck tomorrow as I meet the parents of the children in my new classes this year. I try to make a good impression but I do have a tendency to talk. And yes I know that you are all shocked.
Later y'all
I have been reading this book (yes I do read a lot) and in it the main character writes bits of advice for her granddaughter (to be determined) as she muddles through dating life. I think I might trying writing down some of my advice for my children as well. I mean I have so much knowledge about how to screw things up that I should share this with someone.

Ok this is random...
Two headings on People.com today...one on top of the other. I just thought it was funny...
First: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Get Their Own Barbies
and #2: Simon Cowell Wants to Be Frozen When He Dies
Do you think that Simon could be frozen as a Barbie? Does anyone else find this funny or am I really that tired? Oh and get a look at these barbies.
nope not even close...

Hot and Crazy...
I was reading David Dust's blog and he posted a picture about being "cute" and "psycho" (see post here). This post reminded me of How I Met Your Mother (as so many things do because I love that show) and Barney's Hot/Crazy scale. You remember the scale...a woman can be crazy as long as she is equally hot.
This just made me smile today. Happy Wednesday!

Protect and Serve - The Bachelor Pad
Just a few little observations from this stupid ass show last night...
13 - The number of times Kasey said Protect to Vienna last night.
2 - The number of times I almost threw up in my mouth....once when Erica was talking about Jake's package and then again when Erica kissed Jake (bless Jake's heart, he will do anything for a vote).
75 - The number of minutes that I actually missed Dave and Natalie from last season and wish that they would take the place of Vienna and Kasey.
5 - Number of minutes I laughed at the stupid fight that Kasey and Vienna go into last night.
3 - Number of times Mike's face made me feel sorry for him about still being in love with Holly.
17 - The number of times that I thought that Kasey was an idiot during the show (and that is a low number for last night)
22 - Number of times I questioned my sanity for watching this show last night.
I was a little surprised at how abruptly the show ended but I guess it made for "good" TV. Till next week.

Been a little busy...
I feel like I have been out of the loop this week. I hope that everyone is doing OK and I will be checking in. I returned to work and am trying to get my classroom together for the new school year. Missing everyone and I will be back to blogging next week (if not before).
Oh and my kids started school this week as well. I have a 2nd grader and a 4th grader now. So far so good. I will keep you posted. Love and miss...

Have your pet spayed or neutered...
The headline reads "Kevin Federline Welcomes His Fifth Child"..seriously are you telling me this man is still reproducing? I cannot believe that he has (and can support) 5 children. OK I know that he does not really have to support 2 of them but still. By the way, who looks more pregnant in this picture. Some men just need to get a vasectomy and some women can do better.
The Bachelor Pad - I love Chris Harrison!
This show is beyond me...yet I still watch! Just a few observations from last night.....
Gia gets pissed and walks out when she realizes that Kasey is a big fat tool and liar. So everyone has to vote for 1 more girl. Sooooooooo it ends up being Jackie and then Ames in his goofy ass way decides to leave with her. My goodness what will happen next week...
- Kasey is a crazy ass idiot. Vienna has him so whipped that he truly believes that he is the Godfather of this game. He wants Jake gone so bad that he laughs the maniacal laugh and plots his revenge. What the hell did Jake do to you? Oh and "Protect" you tool. Is that the only word you know?
- The competition was an egg toss and the boys threw at the girls and vice versa. The questions were mean "who do you find the least attractive" and for the people that got hit you felt kind of bad but then you realize that they signed up for the game and that feeling passes.
- Vienna is an excellent actress. Seriously she is really good...

SYTYCD...and the winner is!
The night was full! Full of dancing, full of tears, full of self congratulatory judges and full of fillers (the point of the Glee thing?). I was glad to see Jesse Tyler Ferguson back for the finale but I could have done without Robin "her face does not move" Antin. As always to fill the 2 hour results show, each judge gets to pick his or her favorite dances. Most of the choices from the season I would agree with. I had a few questions about some of the group numbers but again I know a lot of that is to make sure that everyone can get changed.
Then they started eliminating. Tadd was the first to go...no shock there. He did admit he was only 5'4" (which explains his heels last night in his number with Sasha). So with a smile and a bouquet of flowers (?) Tadd went on his merry way. Next to go was Marko. Again no real surprise. We all knew that it was going to come down to the girls. I actually was a big fan of Marko and was so glad that he did so well. He is an amazing dancer and he seemed like a genuine nice guy. Again with the flowers and Marko left the stage.
And the winner is......Melanie. I think that I knew this would happen since the first week. She has been amazing all season and I definitely think that she deserved it. Big props to Sasha. She was phenomenal and so talented.
Another season over and no more Nigel for awhile (am I glad about that). I know many dogged this season but I enjoyed it. My only issue was that I never found a dancer that I loved. Oh well there is always next season. Congrats to Melanie (and Sasha too).

Are You Ready For Some Football....
Tonight is the night. The NFL is back. I know that it is just preseason but I am still excited to realize that the long summer is almost over and football has begun.

SYTYCD - Who wins it????
So who is going to win? I just finished watching the finale of So You Think You Can Dance and it really can be no one except Melanie or Sasha. I cannot see how either of the boys could win. I actually like (not love) all of the final 4 but it just has to be the girls. Favorite routines of the night…Sasha and Mark’s (loved him a lot) Sonya piece, Joshua (and I loved him too) and Tadd’s Lil C routine and Marko and Lauren's routine (by Sandra someone). Am I wrong about the girls? Who do you think will win it?
Divorce is a Bitch...
Originally there was talk that J Lo might not return to Idol for the new season. She might hold out for more money, not enough time with the family, working harder on the career…we heard it all. Now that Mr. Anthony is no longer in the picture, it looks like J Lo is going back to work. In fact all of last year’s judges will be back to American Idol; even Steven Tyler. Excited or not?

Battle of the Boy Bands
Isn't this what will keep us awake at night? Who was the better Boy Band? NSync or The Backstreet Boys? I was reading an article on EW.com by Mandi Bierlyas she gave her opinion and offered up the great debate. And it got me to thinking...who was the better group? Of course recognize that The Jackson 5 was the first group that I remember. New Edition was the first one that I adored. Then along came the rest of them.
I adored N Sync. Keep in mind that when N Sync hit it big I was in my late 20s. Yes that is right, in my late 20s lusting after 17 and 18 year olds (and JT was even younger). I had tickets to their concert in Charlotte. Even if I was 8 months pregnant (which I was) and it was the middle of summer (and it was hot as shit), I was going to that concert. For some reason or another the concert was cancelled and I cried for 2 days (I like to think that I am a fairly sane person) blaming it on the hormones. So whenever anyone debates the two groups I have to question how there is any comparison.
I know, I know The Backstreet Boys came first but N Sync became a cultural iconic symbol. Bye Bye Bye is known by everyone. And the popularity of Justin Timberlake just further solidifies what we all know. There is no debate, N Sync wins hands down. I still listen to N Sync as do my children. And I am impervious to teasing. I know my music people....

The Bachelor Pad -My IQ just went down 50 points
I am not recapping this show. I can't. It is too dumb. But I will include a few bullet points of the highlights just so you can understand the pure unmitigated stupidity of the entire show. The show began with everyone arriving at the house. Let me reiterate that I adore Chris Harrison but I do wonder how he can continue to keep a straight face as this franchise continues.
- This girl Erica that walks around in a tiara had a few good nuggets of blond wisdom and I quote "Its a good astrological time for me" and "my morals aren't really that strict" Yeah she is a peach.
- As Jake gave Vienna (yeah the show was all about them) a rose to save her Gia looked on and said "are you really that dumb". I have to agree Gia.
- The first challenge was the couples straddling each other and see who could do it the longest. It was a lovely visual. It really was as Chris Harrison smirks on the sidelines. There may have been a mention of an erection. Quality television people.
- Kasey is an idiot. He is drinking the cool-aid that Vienna is selling him. She has that boy snowed with the constant talk of him "protecting" her. Protecting her from what? Jake yelled at her once. Shut up already. By the way Kasey and Vienna said protect 23 times that I counted.
- I know that this is an unpopular opinion but I believe Jake and what happened with the breakup Now I believe that he is just as much of a fame whore as Vienna is but she seems dramatic, stupid and manipulative. He just wants to be on TV.
- The two that were booted this first episode I did not even know. Justin (meathead idiot) and Alli.

Is everyone doing All-stars? ANTM announces 14 flashbacks
The women of the all-star cast include: Shannon Stewart (Cycle 1), Camille McDonald (Cycle 2), Brittany Brower (Cycle 4), Lisa D’Amato (Cycle 5), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Bianca Golden (Cycle 9), Dominique Reighard (Cycle 10), Isis King (Cycle 11), Sheena Sakai (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13), Angelea Preston (Cycle 14), Kayla Ferrel (Cycle 15) and Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16).
Now some of these I don't remember and of course some I do. I had sworn off ANTM because I could no longer stomach Tyra Banks but this might me interesting. Sheena against Camille; Bianca against Dominique; and Lisa just being Lisa. I might watch at least the first episode.
Anyone you remember?

OK OK I am going to watch tonight...
Tonight is the beginning of The Bachelor Pad. I was not going to watch. I really, really wasn't. But the more I read about the stupid activity that will go on in the "pad", I could not resist. So yes I will watch and I might even make snarky comments and lament about how stupid these people are. But I will still watch. Just an FYI...
PS why are they always in bathing suits?
